6 Underground (2019)
Better than expected
I didn't know what to expect from this but decided to watch it after finding myself laughing through the entire opening action sequence. I've become bored with Hollywood and am sick to death of the propaganda that the military industrial complex pushes through the multi billion dollar film industry. However the comic book over the top action and comedic delivery from all actors had me in stitches through most of the film. Not much of a story though. The location filming was impressive and something I would expect from a blockbuster movie rather than something out of Netflix so kudos there.
Act of Valor (2012)
Garbage
Violence for violence sake. American propaganda and brainwashing for endless wars.
If you're a numb skull who would die to ensure a rich persons property rights then this is the movie for you. Garbage.
Chocolate City (2015)
Are they serious?
Was this supposed to be a parody? I have it 2/10 only for their hot bodies. Might have gotten more if they'd shown their junk.
Lost in Space (2018)
One and two star reviews?!?...Really?
I was in my early childhood when the original LiS came out and I remember my brother and I eagerly awaiting the weekly episodes. We loved it.
I'm ecstatic that Netflix releases the entire season at once because when I find a good show I like to binge watch like I did with LiS. I watched it back to back over a couple of days and really enjoyed it. To give you some perspective I have also watched Star Trek: Discovery but stopped watching at episode five, not because I hated it, but it just didn't spur me on to binge watch it so I just forgot about it.
However there seems to be some truly butt hurt reviewers on IMDB. I can't understand how someone could give this show a one or two star rating.
I think the special effects in LiS are top notch. I LOVE the robot design and also the aesthetics of the new Jupiter 2. I wasn't sure I was going to like Dr. Smith due to the gender reversal. However she's turned out to be a truly psychologically damaged individual who gets away with more mischief partly because people don't perceive her to be as threatening as a male would be. I really grew to hate the character in a good way and in the final episode she does something that seems to suggest she may be softening her evil ways for season 2.
Iv'e read reviews complaining about bad acting. Really? where? I think the kids do a great job and so do the adults. There has also been complaints of how dysfunctional the family is. Welcome to the real world. This isn't 1964 were Hollywood sugar coats everything and feeds people a narrow view of what gender or family is. There seems to be an awful lot of involuntary celibate nerds out there complaining about the strength of the female characters as opposed to the males.
Sure, I think the writers have emasculated John Robinson somewhat but I think this is due to the guilt he feels from never having been at home with his family and is changing as the season progresses and he feels a sense of stronger inclusion.
While on this point I have noticed recently a lot of people getting triggered by the equalising of genders and the inclusion and greater visibility of minorities on film. More of it I say. Now if only they would include a gay character on LiS I'd be happy.
All up I thoroughly enjoyed the first season and the ending of the last episode has me really excited as to where this will go in season 2. The only criticism I have is that I would prefer a little more sci-fi and a little less drama but that's just a personal preference.
Lastly, I read a review on here from someone who was bagging out other shows on Netflix like Altered Carbon, Stranger Things and The Expanse to name a few. Saying that they are all terrible etc. Well it sucks to be you. Talk about mal-content. Iv'e watched all those shows at least a couple of times and loved all of them.
I'm grateful Netflix is taking the time and effort to bring us some good sci-fi.
