The Room (2003)
Comparison
I'm about to watch this, so then I can compare it to, Fateful Findings, which may be its sibling. There's nothing like movies that are reported to be so bad they're good, especially when it's true. I have been to a few movies that were so bad I made myself stay to the end because I knew it would be bad before I bought the ticket.
The Wannabe (2015)
Very Good.
This is a well-done film about a couple of petty criminals (not too bright) that end up robbing social club card games, supposedly to get money so they can move to Hawaii. It's well-acted; a good character study. It's based on the lives of Thomas and Rosemarie Uva, whose spree started in 1991 and ended in December 1992. Another director did the same story as the movie, Rob the Mob.
I Am Not a Serial Killer (2016)
meh.
Well, overall it was okay but I thought the twist at the end was a cop-out because the writer couldn't come up with a more sensible situation.
Rubicon (2010)
A small point to make.
The description says, "a federal intelligence agency". It's not. It's a private company with government contracts.
Quantum of Solace (2008)
A good follow-up.
The only element that bugged me about this film was in the second sequence in Siena. It struck me as mimicking the free-running seen early in Casino Royale. At least, that's how I saw it. Maybe in reality it was a standard pursuit scene, in which case it was fine, but my radar went off fairly quickly. As some others have commented, Casino Royale set the bar very high. I've enjoyed the Connery series quite a bit while the others seemed much too silly. I couldn't watch more than a couple of Moore's versions and Pierce I didn't bother with at all. The previews were enough. This new series, which seems to make Bond more human and realistic also brings a welcome grittiness to the table and I look forward to more installments.
Troy (2004)
Hey, I can do a movie too!
Overall it's just another cheap Hollywood film with an unimaginative production and too many actors who don't have the proper ethnic look.
For the Greco/Roman period, Gladiator is a far superior film; and what's with the mimicking, using a similar female vocal style in the soundtrack? If memory serves, wasn't it Peter O'Toole that was the King in Gladiator too?
I can hear the original pitch: "It's like a cross between Gladiator and Spartacus, but this one has a large wooden horse with soldiers hiding inside, symbolizing anti-bodies breaking out of a diseased cell, destroying the host but yet some parts of the host escape to start anew."
