Snakes on a Plane (2006)
In the Beginning, there was man and then, Snakes on a plane... You need not know the rest!
What can i say about Snakes on a plane? A bunch of things! And yes, they're all good! However, Simply put, this movie kicks bottom. For all those who felt four Tremors movies and a series was simply not enough! For all those who cried out in terror at the very thought of Ashton Kutcher playing Ash in an Evil Dead remake! For all those who thought a movie about snakes, trapped inside a plane was perhaps the finest idea for just about anything, ever. Then, let me tell you, this movie is for you.
...As for the people who think 'Snakes on a plane just sounds silly. I mean, the snakes don't even look real!' You people are to life, what the bubonic plague was to erm... well, life - really bad!
Brain Fix (1993)
Better than Zipperface!?
In my humble, yet expert opinion. This movie is better than Zipperface. I know i know, risky thing to say but.... in all honesty, this movie is possibly perhaps marginally better than Zipperface... maybe.
It was a cold, dark and wet December night the night my cousin and i decided to settle down to watch BrainFix - we had our doubts at first... "Hey Lewis, are you sure this is a movie? I mean, it's not just a big pile of feces shoved on screen?" "hmm... feces you say? my God Murray, you could be right!"
He was wrong. Brain Fix wasn't feces! it was in fact... better than feces! It was funny, amusing, hilarious and most of all, funny. All rolled into one real peach of a film! Basically, BrainFix is about some sort of crazy mental asylum place. The Doctor running the show is called... well, i can't remember exactly what he's called, but he had a name - that i'm sure of! Anyway, his son Jeff comes to visit for some reason, they were a bit sketchy on just why he came to visit, but i'm sure if he had a reason it would have been a damn good one . It doesn't take Jeff long to realise things are not all as they seem in the crazy lunatic asylum run by foreign people with mysterious accents, and haircuts. Jeff must now unlock the door to the front door, as well as the door to his father's past in order in unravel the mysterious goings on and leave the hospital behind him, once and for all.
What this movie lacks in fine acting, directing, dialogue and script it more than makes up for in rich, creamy, C-movie goodness. If you live in the U.K. keep an eye on the Horror Channel - they don't show a lot of movies, so they like to repeat the ones they have.... over and over and...
To sum up, this movie is actually better than Zipperface.
Zipperface (1992)
Best movie ever made?
Once in a while, a movie comes along that makes you think; yeah, spot on, they got that just right. Zipperface, is one of those movies. Frighteningly realistic acting, combined with a strong script and some of the finest directing i've ever had the pleasure of viewing. Make this Spine Tingling Psychological Horror a must see.
The character of Zipperface is disturbingly life like and if anything... perhaps a little too believable. I'd like to say this movie belongs up there with the greats; The Godfather, Shawshank Redemption, Saving Private Ryan, Heavy Rock Zombies, etc... but in all honesty, it's in a league of its own.
The beauty behind a movie like Zipperface is it doesn't get hung up on trivial things - like whether the movie makes any sense. Why are there cans of dog food at the scene of the crime? we don't know, and i guess we never will.
Zipperface is a gem that'll leave you guessing till the very end.
Acting - second to none Plot - equally.... erm... second to none Fear Factor - 100% Overall grade - A+.
Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
The Godfather.... roll over!
Napoleon Dynamite is quite possibly the funniest film i've ever seen! This movie is perfect, i don't have a single complaint. The writing was incredible and i loved the orginality of it all. OK, so there have been movies about nerds before.... but.... normally, the message that tends to get tagged on to these sorts of movies is... "well in the end, the good looking, sporty and popular guy - with the totally hot girlfriend - is the real geek!" but not in ND! in ND, the real geek.... is well... Napoleon!
Being a bit of a nerd myself, i can relate to Napoleon. The guy is like all my friends rolled into one great big super nerd, with +9 saving throw against all members of the opposite sex... well, almost all! can't forget Deb.
I loved this movie, seen it twice now and can't wait until it comes out on DVD.
