Eat Pray Love (2010)
Julia gives effortless performance
I watched this whole film and never once did it feel like Julia Roberts was acting. Julia just seemed so natural as a shallow, me-first character. Yet, I did not find her very sympathetic and as I was in theatre I regularly found myself hoping she would fall down a flight of stairs, but alas, she never does. Maybe in the sequel?
I hope Julia realizes that as she loses her looks even more and her box office draw continues on its downward trend she might have to take a hard look in the mirror, mirror and realize she's not the pretty woman we all thought she was. (LOL, right? I just thought that one up on the spot).
Anyway, I have a cousin name a Rimmy Jo Buckles who claims to have messed around with her husband Eric Roberts when she was in Georgia in the 80s but Rimmy is a notorious liar, so who knows. I did see this film with Rimmy and she did not like it neither. While we were watching she said: END PLEASE NOW instead of Eat, Pray, Love and I laughed at first but she kept repeating it and it got old.
Little Man (2006)
I'll never miss a Wayans Bros. film
What I do not think that a lot of people are understanding is that it's not a real boy actor with real good makeup on. It's a Wayans brother and trick photography they use to make him look little.
I didn't get that at first so I was sorta creeped out, because I had a cousin who had a baby and the baby had an old man face and even when the baby grew up it still looked like one of them old-fashioned men you see sometimes in photos from the Civil War.
I have a cousin name a Rimmy Jo Buckles and she lives in Fayetteville and one time she was watching a Wayans Bros. movie and she said she laughed so hard that Diet Mountain dew came out her nose. What was funny is that she was drinking a lemon lime powerade at the time and while the colors are similar I can assure you the taste is not.
Anyway, you should see this film if you like funny stories and then you'll have something to compare and contrast against this.
Riding the Bus with My Sister (2005)
O'Donnell is a well-known and proud thespian
Heroic! Courageous! Brave! Daring! These are all words I would use to describe you, if you were able to sit through this tour de force of a performance by Rosie O'Donnell. Not because it's so bad as some have suggested, but because you will NEVER forget this film.
Rosie has not only elevated her acting skills, she elevates the viewer as well to a place I like to call "Rosie O'Nirvana." I have always been a fan of Rosie's super subtle, light on humor standup act, but her performance here puts her in the company of Dustin Hoffman and Daniel Day Lewis. If they were in the same airport bus.
Her performance is never so cloying and over-the-top that I have to catch my breath after her scenes because they are uncomfortable to view. And to those out there who suggested it, NO This should not be rated X due to the fact that it may shock you, disgust you and disturb you. It will, but in a good way.
I also want to salute Angelo Tsarouchas for his performance as Mean Eugene though -- it was superior.
Sullivan & Son (2012)
should be called a shitcom
Tries to be offensive but doesn't have the teeth to follow through. Not weird, not offbeat, not offensive, not cutting-edge, not silly, not absurd, not observant, not new, not good.
This is corporate comedy at its worst. Some TBS exec sees a stand-up who fits their demographic strategy and puts him into a concept that cannot succeed.
I watched two episodes and felt embarrassment for everyone involved. TBS really needs a scripted comedy exec with some talent. What they've put out the last few years (with the exception of Conan) is completely immemorable garbage.
