Supergirl: Pilot (2015)
Supergirl!
Pleasantly surprised by this episode and I am so here for Cat Grant's snark. I wasn't a fan of Glee, so I had no idea what to expect from Melissa Benoist, but her take on the Girl of Steel is perfect and I am interested to see where this goes. Jeremy Jordan is a good fit as Kara's BFF and I'm loving the chemistry between Jimmy and Kara.
Supergirl: Supergirl Lives (2017)
What is going on with this show?
I loved Alex in this episode, however, I'm not a fan of them acting like she's an alcoholic. And again with Mon-El, he has more chemistry with Eliza than he does Kara. It's obvious that they've sidelined James, the lead actor of the series, to match Kara up with the intergalactic frat boy. Chris Wood is funny, but Mon-El is written so poorly. And why does Kara have to save him, yes, he's better for knowing her, that doesn't mean that they should be together. Kara and James actually made more sense and the most obvious reason to break them up would have been when James was made temporary CEO. Then he could have thrown the breaks on the relationship and maybe, just maybe this thing with Mon-El could be more believable. But could they just write Mon-El better? The other male characters are not written this badly, I don't understand where they're going with this and why have Kara break up with James so that she can focus on herself only to have her focus on Mon-El instead?
Supergirl: Truth, Justice and the American Way (2016)
Supergirl finally kicks some serious ass!
Can Lexi Alexander direct all the episodes? This is what I've been waiting for, Supergirl finally putting it all together and holding her own in a fight scene. And Chy Leigh is killing it as Alex Danvers, her unwavering belief in Kara is the heart of the show. This show is everything I hoped it would be. Strong female characters, flawed but not damsels in distress. They support each other and learn from each other.
Supergirl: Blood Bonds (2016)
Blood Bonds
Laura Benanti is brilliant as Alura/Astra. And the chemistry between Kara and Cat is interesting and a little confusing, I can understand now why people are shipping them. The story is good, but they need to do something better with the continuity, Cat is a fashion maven, there's no way that she wouldn't know that Kara is Supergirl, her nail polish and earrings don't change and how is it that a Kryptonian has pierced ears anyway, her skin is bulletproof?
Wynonna Earp: Whiskey Lullaby (2017)
You'll Need Whiskey After Watching This Lullaby
If you were worried about Wynonna kicking ass in her current condition, then worry no more, because Melanie proves that this badass lady will kick demon ass no matter what. I would give a bonus star if I could because of the WayHaught scenes that were just perfect. Best written show on SyFy. Kudos to the writers, directors and cast. Do we get Season 3 yet?
Wynonna Earp: She Ain't Right (2017)
The Earp Sisters Bring Their A Game
There is no sophomore slump for Wynonna Earp, the writers have picked up where the first season left off and this show is just humming along. The actors in this are so talented and obviously committed to their roles. I don't want to spoil any episodes for you, so just do yourself a favor and watch this show. I don't know how Syfy hasn't renewed it yet. Emily Andras is one of the best showrunners out there!
My only complaint on this episode was there wasn't enough Nicole Haught!
Supergirl: The Last Children of Krypton (2016)
What is going on with Mon-El?
I have no idea why they would introduce this character and name him Mon- El. It makes literally no sense for him to have a House of El name unless he's related to Kara or Kal. In DC canon, the character Mon-El is named by Superman, but his real name is Lar Gand. This is really confusing and if they make him a love interest for Supergirl then it's even worse.
Supergirl: The Darkest Place (2016)
Ugh, It just gets worse
It's as if the current writers didn't even watch the first season of this show. They are reducing the title character to a love interest and they continue to not develop the Mon-El character into anything remotely interesting. And now they clumsily introduce Hank Henshaw as Cyborg Superman without explaining why he would call himself that, he just does and everyone accepts it. He's not dressed like Superman, in fact, they don't even bother to give him a costume. He's just dressed like Hank Henshaw with a Phantom of the Opera mask. There is literally no clue as to why he would be called that. I am just a casual fan of superheros and comics and I seem to know more about these characters than the current writing staff. It's baffling to see this show turn into this. The fight scenes are lackluster at best and the Kara who fought Non and Master Jailer last season, continues to get her ass kicked by just about anyone and everyone this season.
