Thoughtcrimes (2003)
A girl has to learn to control her mental power to help the world
plot (if there is one...)
All of a sudden a high school teen gets the power of hearing thoughts of other people. Why and how this happened nobody knows not even the director. This power overwhelm her and she goes insane but accidentally she discovers that by reading she can quiet the voices in her head. In that moment a group of high-tech scientist realize that she has the 'power' and take her for training in order to combat the international terrorism by reading the mind of the enemy.
Cheesy, unbelievable almost ridiculous though funny. I can only recommend it for seen in cable TV.
The Girl Next Door (2004)
Yes.... another teen movie.
I don't know why I thought this would be a good movie, or at least a funny one. The history is the same old one, the characters too. I am not going to take the time to describe them... As in other movies once I realized that the movie sucked I kept watching it either because of the beauty of the character or because I had the foolish illusion that it would be turn into a good movie at the end. With this movie I couldn't even do that. Despite the beauty of 'Elisha Cuthbert' (Danielle) the movie didn't give me any glimpse or clue that would had a turn to a funny movie or at least 'interesting'... So after 25 minutes of horrible boredom and total disappointment I chose for skip big parts of the movie and went directly to the end.. the classical happy end. If I would have the choice now I won't see it at all! Not even in cable on a very boring Sunday afternoon.
B-Happy (2003)
Life is what you made of it.
Justiniano gave us a real one this time. This movie is shocking, frightening, and sometimes depressing, but the main character Martelli (Kathy) is always looking, without any fear, the way to survive the tragedy that the life can be for someones. Located in Valparaiso, the landscape are beautiful and the different rural locations are just like Chile really is. The director gave us a realistic view of Valparaiso, not the glam side of the city, but the dark and gloomy part of the harbor, that Valparaiso is. This movie is a great opportunity to entrance to the chilean movies, and I think that this movie it's a must seen for every chilean. Because you can recognize and watch a very accurate point of view of the people of the lately '90.
