Great movie!
2 September 2007
I don't see what everybody's beef is with this flick. I actually found it to be extremely entertaining. For Rob Zombie's directorial debut, it was excellent. A lot of blood, a lot of gore, really messed up stuff, great story and the characters were just superb. I urge people to see this one if they are a fan of the horror genre. There was not a moment in the movie that I felt bored. It was constant killing after killing. A completely original horror movie from someone who's brand new to the directing scene. This made me want to see the new Halloween remake, and I was absolutely stunned by it's greatness as well. I don't know what's up with all the low scores! But that's just my opinion.

Gotta watch it if you've seen the others... But it's not the best out of three.

Of course you've got to see the third if you've seen the other two. So, I went tonight. I guess it's sort of a trend, the third movie of trilogies is never as good as the first or second. It was still entertaining, all the same. Great action, if that's all you're into. And a continuing main plot from the others.

The side plots were, however, kind of 'meh' in my opinion. Mainly my beef is with the Calypso plot. I'm not one to complain about a movie's length, but this plot would have cut down on movie length, and, considering the target audience was EVERYONE a shorter movie length would have been more fitting for the youngsters. It was still a good flick. Just that Calypso was kind of a lame side plot. Any other thoughts on this? I don't want to reveal thing for people who haven't seen the movie yet.

Another thing that I found was for the amount of sword fights in the movie, there was a complete lack of blood. Even after impaling people, there is no blood, and Jack Sparrow still wipes his sword clean. I'm assuming it was for the PG-13 rating? Although, I would have thought PG-13 allowed for some blood.

Overall, a good watch. A must watch for those who have seen the other two. Not sure that I'll be rushing to the stores to buy the trilogy when it comes out, since I don't own the other two on DVD. The best movie of the summer? Probably not.

Why, Nicholas Cage, Why?
16 February 2007
I went to see this movie with no great expectations, which was a good thing, because had I had expected anything good, I would have been very disappointed. Why Nicholas played this role, I don't know. Very bad choice, in comparison to some of his much greater acting (such as Matchstick Men or even Weather Man). It was basically a silly excuse for another comic book movie. Just because it was a comic book doesn't mean it should be made into a movie. How long will it take for the game to come out(Not that it would be even remotely worth playing)???? Save yourself the trouble, don't see this movie. Unless you like semi action flicks with no great story and a very pointless and unexplained set of characters. If I had more than 2 thumbs, they would all be facing in the downward position.

One shot.
11 August 2006
One of the most in-depth psychological depictions of Vietnam war; before, during, and after. This film shows the life of those from a town in Pennsylvania and the effect the war has had on their lives. It is hard to choose this film over some other very great Vietnam war movies, or any war movie in general. It is comparable to "Apocalypse Now", and "Platoon", but is still a whole different type of Vietnam war film. Definitely worth seeing and owning. One of my favorite movies of all time. Robert DeNiro is superb, as per usual, and the story line is excellent. One shot, that is all it takes. One shot is all it takes to change everything forever.
