Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
Best movie I've seen this year
So surprised Dreamworks made this movie as amazing as it did, was an enjoyable watch from start to end, with so many good details.
The film actually transforms into a meaningful, hilarious, exhilarating, emotional and at times jarringly terrifying piece of animation and to say I was thoroughly entertained would be an understatement.
This movie was way better then it had any right being. I hope it tops the box office.
Musical notes syncing up with the battle was one of my favorite parts.
It's worth a 2ed viewing just for Villain alone. The actor killed it.
This is Dreamworks best for a while now.
A Quiet Place (2018)
Surprisingly enjoyable even without the sound on
Nothing happens for a solid 45 minutes then BAM
Emily Blunt goes into labor, impales her foot on a thick nail, drops a lamp attracting the monster and has to scramble to survive. WHILE HAVING A BABY
just when u think the situation can't get worse, it does
it's like the movie tryna target Emily Blunt and her newborn specifically
Emily Blunt's character in this movie is braver than any US Marines
I cANT. BELIEVE. Nobody died in this film, except an elderly couple. EVERYONR LIVED. amazing.
John Krasinski was pretty cute in this movie, Emily Blunt a total badass. Winning performance from husband-and-wife duo.
Mother! (2017)
Movie made entirely out of symbolism
It's not the most watchable movie I've seen because the pacing is really slow, and because of other stuff.
Great effects.
Aesthetically pleasing.
Plot: what plot. "the film is so steeped in symbolism and tone rather than character and plot." So it was hard to comprehend why the characters were acting the way they were.
Superb acting from Javier Bardem and Jennifer Lawrence. Javier played up the role of the oblivious otherworldly husband really well, while Jennifer set the entire mood of the movie with just the subtle turns of emotions in her eyes, from annoyance, disbelief and sadness to dread, terror and hopelessness. Kinda impressive.
Gotta give it another point for the authenticity.
Horns (2013)
Godawful
I have never been more outraged in my entire life. This is by far the worst movie I have ever watched and possibly in the history of motion pictures. Hugely disappointed I can't give it a 0 stars. How dare my friend make me endure this 2-hour abomination with my own two eyes. My month is ruined. First of all, the lines were /absolute/ crap. Hackneyed, meaningless and stupid oh God. I could see Daniel Radcliffe trying very hard to blow life into his frightful part, and I appreciated it but it wasn't working. The plot makes no sense. Plot holes littered themselves here and there and have they heard of the word l o g i c. The only saving grace of this movie is the effects, which were not so deplorable as any other aspects of this movie. And Max Minghella. He was the only one who pulled this off. I'm sure the book was very nice but it can't make me believe it was worth an adaption. I'm going to go erase this movie from my memory now. An F- Thanks for nothing.
Whiplash (2014)
Electrifying
At first it was not the synopsis of the movie that captured my attention but the IMDb score. I thought "it's just a movie about drumming, how compelling can it be?". I was an ignorant fool. This movie rocks (or jazzes). From start to end. Your eyes are glued to the screen, you keep guessing what will happen next. I anticipated how the characters would react to one another, not how the story unfolds. The sheer brutality is both refreshing and terrifying. Coming from all characters. They did a splendid job on building original characters. I salute you. It was also an eye-opener for me and my friend. It was enthralling to learn more about the world of orchestras and jazz. Still, it was awesome. A thousand out of ten.
