Trailer looked good, movie very weak
21 August 2020
Editor keeps using digital zooms almost in every shot which cheapens a film that looks like it was shot in a few days time (mostly indoors). I am surprised Jessica Chastain signed on for this. What a weak movie, not even B-movie... it's a Shhhh-movie. Horrible! What a waste of time.

Legit Erotic Thriller for an adult mind with sense of humor
17 November 2018
This is a very well made erotic thriller about a husband/father who's systematically being taken apart psychologically and physically - the morale of the film is very good, and a mature mind with life experience will appreciate it. Was also surprised of how much humor is in it. It's not a comedy, obviously - but the movie has many tongue-in-cheek moments and I think that's very smart because it's about tension, relief, tension, relief. A lot of suspense films such as thrillers or horrors don't understand that if the music is drumming for over 1.5hrs and no relief for the audience it will become tiring. Here the filmmaker is well aware of all the notes to hit and the crescendo is just bravo!

Also, the movie does not go into grotesque territory to be shocking - it keeps the suspense without resorting to what modern horror movie genre has become synonymous with - torture porn. There is nothing scary in someone's tooth being pulled out - it's disgusting, and I was happy to see that this film was able to keep me and my wife on the edge of our seats throughout. Eli Roth has crafted an intelligent and very well made erotic thriller. There are so few of these being made at such a level, and I appreciate the hard work put into it.

I rarely write reviews (I think this is my second one in a span of 14 years). The reason I decided to write something down is because I avoided watching this film for a while because it got some very harsh reviews. Upon watching it I was pleasantly surprised. This movie was engaging through-out with very minor script-related hiccups, but it certainly is not worthy of all the 1 star reviews. Those who leave them, I think have seen very few films in their life - probably only the big ones that hit cinemas. Perhaps if it was another actor that is not associated with blockbuster candy popcorn, the movie would be considered a cult classic.

Black Swarm (2007 TV Movie)

Untamable Genetically Engineered swarms are on the loose!
17 June 2008
A new breed of wasps, unidentifiable and unexplainable by petty exterminator and cop woman, are now going to kick some major booty! People are being stung and the ice-cream man doesn't seem to come to work sober anymore... something is going terribly wrong in Black Stone... a town... haunted with myths... a very very usual, safe town...

This is probably higher than moderate TV entertainment. Some people seem to forget this is a TV-movie, just Robert Englund alone is good enough reason to check it out, if not, and you are interested in swarms, check this one out while working or whatever, it's OK.

Bruce Willis the protector playing Simon Says
22 December 2007
This movie is a treat to watch if you like movies where people can exhibit eccentric intellect. The movie guides us by combining thrilling plot twists and fast-paced action. At times, you wont know what hit you.

I saw this movie ages ago when it came out in '99, and must tell you that watching it again now is like watching it for the first time again, there's lots going on and we get moments of rest when Simon is guiding us.

Overall I'd recommend this movie for your criticism or entertainment. Enjoy! ;)
