The Walking Dead: Hounded (2012)
The most underestimated episode of Walking Dead
At the prison Rick is talking on the phone with a mysterious person. They don't say where there located, they just say there in a safe place. Rick tries to discuss with them, but they say they will call him back later. SPOILER!!!!! as the episode progresses it is revealed that Rick is merely imagining the voices, because the next voice that comes on is Laurie.
Meanwhile Merle and his crew are sent to hunt after Michonne. Lets just say she controls the situation. This is probably my favorite episode with Michonne. Meanwhile A sexual tension between The Governor and Andrea begin to rise.
This is an episode that really tugs at the emotional heart strings. ^ out of 10.
The Walking Dead: Say the Word (2012)
An episode that's missing some pieces
After the Tragic events that transpired in the last episode, Rick storms off into the prison to kill some walkers in rage. While Herschel looks over Ricks new daughter. He say's the baby needs formula or she won't survive. Daryl and Maggie volunteer to make a run to get formula for the baby.
Immediately, a big thing that stuck out for me this episode was Daryl. The way he is loyal to Rick really shows how there relationship has grown since season one. He and Maggie go to a creepy daycare and find some formula. Rick on the other hand is just mad at the world. The only thought in his mind is to kill every Walker in the prison. Andrew Lincoln shows his brute force as this character.
The biggest issue with this episode is it almost feels a little underwhelming. But, it's an episode you have to see. So, 7 out of 10.
The Walking Dead: Killer Within (2012)
My favorite episode in all of Walking Dead.
Rick and the crew are barricading the prisons fences with cars. Then it cuts Laurie and Herschels daughter help the now one legged Herschel walk outside in the prison yard. You finally see Rick and Laurie share a smile. Of course, in Walking Dead you can't have happy moments. So, the next instance, Walkers start to come into the prison and the Prison Alarms start to blare attracting all the nearby walkers. Chaos breaks lose.
Meanwhile in the town of Woodbury, Michonne doesn't feel right about the governor. Andrea on the other hand, has fallen under the Governers charming persona.
SPOILERS! with the prison under chaos by walkers, Carl, Maggie and Laurie run and hind in the prison boiler room. There, Laurie goes into labor. But when she isn't able to deliver the baby the normal way,So they have to preform an emergency c-section. Which she wont survive. She does die.
The last major thing I want to say is that all the acting in this perfect. The whole cast is at top game.
So a surprisingly spectacular episode for only the fourth of the season. 10 out of 10.
The Walking Dead: Sick (2012)
A great premise, with a somewhat shaky execution
This episode literally picks up right were the first one left off. The group is locked in a small room trying to bandage Herschels bloody stump. Then the group looks up and sees prisoners who had been locked in there since the virus spread. So there is a major tensions between
them and Ricks group and the decision of will this prisoners join our hero's? There were two big things that stuck out for me this episode. One was the relationship between Daryl and Rick. Since Shanes death in season two, Daryl had to step up and show that he's loyal to Rick and will do whatever Rick says and will do anything to keep this group safe.
The second thing is Rick showing that he won't let just anyone into the group. Rick decides that he can't risk his groups safety for the prisoners. So he elaborately kills every member in the group except two. They get bigger parts in later episodes.
So, this is an episode that has a great premise that has a cool, though sometimes forced execution. 8 out of 10
The Walking Dead: Seed (2012)
A great introduction episode to a so far great season.
We come back to Rick and the crew. The group is tired of running and wants to find a place to live and to call home. They find the prison, and that's were they decide to make there new stomping grounds. Laurie and Ricks relationship (after the events that transpired in season 2) is still rocky. Even though Laurie is pregnant.
The opening scene of the episode shows the group scouting out a house to look for food. That scene says a lot to me. It shows that the group is close and has become a lot more lethal than the past season. Then, when they finally find the prison and get through some walkers they get some rest. The next day they go and scout the rest of the prison. When they get hit by a little group of walkers, Hershel gets bitten in the leg. Rick, being a leader that will do anything to protect his group, uses a saw to cut off Herschels leg. That way He won't turn into a walker.
Though, this episode does have some minor issues, I think for the first episode of the season, it gets the job done. So 8 out of 10.
The Walking Dead: Walk with Me (2012)
An episode thats better with the story than the execution
In this particular episode, we take a break from the prison and follow Andrea and Michonne. This episode opens with a brilliant plane crash. Then we get a great introduction to the character called The Governor. He runs a survivor filled town called Woodbury. The Governor welcomes Andrea and Michonne with open arms. Andrea slowly begins to fall under the Governers spell. While Michonne isn't so trustworthy of him.
Lets get into Michonne first. OK, here's the thing, Michonne is like one of the fan favorites among the comics. So this actress has a lot to hold up to. Does she? Well, honestly no. The thing is she seems too pitiful and way to mopey. Now Andrea, the thing with her is the character is entertaining. Though, she is to full of herself. She tries WAY to hard to be a tough female character. But, she fails.
I want to make a whole paragraph talking about the Governor. When you first meet this guy, you like him. You say " hey! this guy isn't so bad. Though, near the end of This episode, the Governor makes a drink and goes to a secret room in his apartment. He sits down, and the camera pans around to show shelves of zombie heads. That shows that the character isn't as sweet as you thought he was.
Last thing, Merle comes back. He doesn't cuss scream or shout as much as he did when he was first introduced. It really is a great little homage to the past seasons to bring him back on the show..
This episode is one that isn't really that good when you first watch it. Though, I think when you look back on this particular episode you'll understand why it's there. So, i'll give it a 6 out of 10.
Memento (2000)
A smart and sophisticated thriller with more layers than the eye can see
I feel that this was a great introduction to a great director. That man is Christopher Nolan. While a lot of newbie directors would've taken this material and made the story just sloppy and too flashy. I have to tip my hat again to Mr. Nolan, because he's one of the only directors in my opinion that can find a nice median between style and substance.
Another big reason that I think this film is so smart is because it has an art-house feel to it. That is due to the relatively unknown cast. (Granted there not as unknown now) They include: Guy Pearce, Carrie-Ann Moss and Joe Pantoliano. Though, truthfully if you've seen this movie, the breakout is Guy Pearce. The way he's able to make us as the audience side with him is just a joy to watch.
All and all, Memento is a very smart movie that is just fun to watch and experience. I give it 9 out of 10
