Queer as Folk (2022)
Don't believe the bad reviews
I felt a bit of cringe in the first half of the first episode. Then with tragedy, I quickly had a lot of respect for this new series. I lived the original British and American series and this one is a mature version. Give this show a chance, don't believe the nonsense reviews here. Well acted, authentic, sincere and lovely.
Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas (2021)
Unwatchable
I tolerated Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist because I like a song and dance number. This Christmas movie is absolutely terrible. Zoey is so unlikable and selfish. The acting has somehow got worse like Zoey regressing to a bratty child. Somehow they have even made lovely Max rude and unlikeable while Mo goes from sassy to disgustingly aggressive. I couldn't even watch it until the end but I hope all of these characters redeemed themselves somehow.
Heartstopper (2022)
Brilliant, touching and just lovely
Heartstopper is one of the finest series in a decade. It is adorable and transcends all genders and sexualities as a set of beautiful teen love stories. More than just a coming-of-age show, Heartstopper is an important milestone for both television and the LGBTIQA+ community.
Would I Lie to You? (2022)
Watch the British version only
I really worried that channel 10 would mess up the Australian version of the great British show. They have messed up in every possible way. This show needs to be axed immediately. The British WILTY is still one of my favourite shows but this Australian version has so much cringe that it is unwatchable. Even the brilliant DJ Carl Cox couldn't save this show on episode 3.
Free Guy (2021)
Surprisingly Brilliant
Such a great movie as an ex-gamer but really has a broad appeal. I wasn't expecting it to be great but it was really fun to watch. Ryan Reynolds is always brilliant but I know some people find some of his past characters annoying. Here though, he is beyond likeable.
The Late Late Show with James Corden (2015)
Such a brilliant late night show
My all-time favourite late night show and I watch as much as I can. I see some bad reviews here but still not swayed -James Corden is brilliant. The reinvention of the show to COVID requirements has been amazing and Corden's light entertainment and soft entry to news is what we need at home right now. Incredible guests all the time and Carpool Karaoke will be watchable for years.
Ke zai ni xin di de ming zi (2020)
Up there with the best LGBTQ movies worldwide
Such a beautiful story of two young gay guys. This Taiwanese historical film is certainly one of the best recent LGBTQ movies to be released out of Asia, if not the world. An amazing piece of modern cinema.
