Tune in Tomorrow... (1990)
One of the best films and I still enjoy seeing it again each time
This film as also from the book where it came from is a true masterpiece. Not only in its wording but the characters, the acting and the storyline and its tongue in cheek poke at radio writers of that era (i.e. the 1950's). If you don't have a writer background or have lived the era of radio plays you might not get the humour or the subtle below the belt jokes embedded in the play. But I strongly suggest you to watch and learn - this movie took a long time to make and is well worth seeing.
A Business Affair (1994)
Very delightful sexy and romantic to watch!
I really loved this movie. Here's a lady who gets told by two lovers one being her husband and the other her husbands publisher who simply don't want a woman to be more successful than they are. But like life being acted out in a movie, this is still a sad truth in our society too. Kate only wanted love to be on equal terms.
Strangely quite a lot of dialogue is held over the food, super nice restaurants and home cooked food, and I felt like I was eating with everyone while the conversations were going on.
Whats more fun is how Kate looks in some very sexy outfits and I loved the amazing comeback lines all the actors had in this film. Well worth watching and well worth seeing on DVD - I only wish I had seen it on the big screen.
Rumor Has It... (2005)
A great follow-on from the classic graduate
I loved the movie! Great story line! Im miffed at why others don't see this, but maybe they went to watch the movie with pre-made expectations. Rumor is well cast and gee what a stellar cast it holds. I especially liked Ruffalo's role as the guy who gets left out by his fiancé played by Aniston. He gives the movie its hanging edge. Costner plays well also with a part which set on a smart man who did well in business and like that of Maclaine, gives the story a historical link to this movie's inspiration - The Graduate. I didn't watch it for laughs, I think saying every movie is a romantic comedy is a useless categorization thing. I watched it because it was a good old yarn (that means story) We are fortunate to have such a rich cast on such a film.
The Wedding Date (2005)
What a great movie!
I took my girlfriend to this movie this afternoon. She loved it and so did I. I think it was well researched and hits many valuable (and true) points in both dating and relating between the sexes. I'm going to buy it when it comes out on DVD for sure. Both Nick and Kat make very pertinent quotes indicating great wisdom in the scripting of the movie. Plus its clear that the actors have thrown their heart into the movie too, another great plus. There is much for anyone interested in relationships, to learn from this movie. Worth watching again and again. You might think that there are shadows from Pretty Woman in the movie, at first I did too. But under closer inspection, the comparison does not stand up. What I found was that this movie has one major thing in common with Wall Street, i.e. lots of quotes sprinkled with learning material during the script. If you see it with your partner, take time to discuss the movie afterwards, see what you can learn from it.
Power (1986)
Inspirational, technical, truthful
Power was at first a dauntingly big movie to take in. Looking at it from the perspective of the lead character played by Gere (Pete St John) ... what you'll see here is a man working like a dog trying to promote a range of political candidates all over a big country. On the surface it looks like he's working only for the money. But as you dig deeper, he actually is very carefull about his work.
I felt the movie was very accurate in showing us what happens in a major league PR Firm. And as it turns out the side comments Pete St John makes (Gere) and his staff show the true challenges their job entails. It's both educational and accurate.
I liked the movie a lot. It has inspired me to work in the PR field. And I recommend anyone to watch it and learn from it.
