Dungeons & Dragons (2000)

A journey into the realm of imagination!

Under the director's, Courtney Solomon, wand the imagination of millions of gamers, not only players of the Dungeons&Dragons game, but of all the lovers of fantasy themed board or computer games came to life for the first time with the release of this movie. I didn't get the chance to see it on the big screen but as soon as I've watched it I knew it was a world I would want to visit again and again. The first thing I loved about this movie was the setting, the world where the characters interact.It's an exotic and dangerous world full of mystery and danger, brought to life with special effects and a lot of dedication. The second were the characters.The villains were superb! Jeremy Irons, who played the main villain, surprised me yet again with how much he imersed himself in this world, and his right hand Damodar, Bruce Payne, played his role perfectly and brought life to this character. The heroes were also well chosen.The main hero Ridley Freeborn is played by Justin Whalin, an odd choice some might say because he is mostly known for his roles in family movies and Child's Play.But some, like I do, know Justin as an action hero! He played a badass soldier named Sutherland in For the Cause aka Warhammer, and proved his worth as a lead character and action hero. In Dungeons and Dragons he shows charisma, wits and he completly dominates both physically and intellectualy his funny but loyal friend Marlon Wayans who added a little comedy flavor to the cocktail this movie delivers. I don't know why Justin was not cast in more action movies but I think is possible that in the future, we might see Ridley in action again! The hero's love interest Marina played by Zoe McLellan was also well cast and does a good job, the same can be said about the empress played by Thora Birch. A strong point mostly for game fans is that we get to see the main character level and get stronger as the story unfolds, like in an actual game. Also a nice surprise for the fantasy gamer is how well the movie portrayed the character's classes and how well they were played. The plot might not impress the gourmet audiences looking for something very complex but it offers a lot of nice surprises and a heartwarming story for all audiences even if they never heard of the games and are not fantasy fans. The music is wonderful and it's allways there to highlight the important moments. Last but not least, the atmosphere in the movie is allmost identical to the one gamers make when they are playing Dungeons&Dragons or a computer MMORPG.If you love fantasy RP games then this is the movie you must see and you will feel that a part from your favorite game was in it! Even if you are not a gamer my advice is to see this movie with an open mind and you will be treated to something wonderful, a fantasy world you will definitely want to revisit!

The Avengers (1998)

One of the best action movies ever made!

I saw this movie in 1998 at a cinema and i was instantly amazed by it's unique style and setting.Everything is unique and fresh abou this movie:the pure back to the roots english setting blended with futuristic elements and set in a fictional modern day, the style of the characters and their design, the story and the clever english humor blended in the mix. The story takes you thru some amazing locations and memorable scenes. The characters will keep you entertain with their wit and enhlish humor.And finally the action scenes will simply amaze you! I personaly liked this movie better than the Matrix! The people who didn't like this movie can't appreciate quality english humor and quality entertaiment!

The Expendables 3 (2014)

A reboot is needed!

I liked the first part and the idea, but this series needs a reboot badly.I won't talk about this one, but i will only say that I was plesantly surprised to see Mel Gibson. Now for the next part, a whole new cast is needed and a new perspective.First, throw away the newbies.At the begining of the movie Stallone must die in battle with an alien/demonic force.To combat this force a new team must be asembled.Christopher Lambert, master swordsman and demon hunter, Clancy Brown(The Kurgan, Horde Warchief-he is the one who kills Stallone, let's face it Stallone is no match for the Kurgan, Clancy is also an agent of a secret society working for an alien power, Justin Whalin- Christopher Lambert's apprentice, Jackie Chan-master racecar driver, Val Kilmer, master thief, Michael Dudikoff-ninjutsu master, Pierce Brosnan-retired secret agent investiganting the organisation, Mel Gibson and Dolph Lundgreen should also be in the cast.As sidekicks we should also have Bill Paxton-expert in unusual weather phonomenons and Matthew Broderick expert in mutated creatures! A womandshould also be helping the team, and get kidnapped at some pointI Scarlett Johansson would fit this role perfectly! The leader of the new team should be none other that Snake Plissken! And it will be revealed that Stallone is not really dead, but turned into a cyborg, so the two titans can eventually clash at the end! Rambo vs Snake Plissken! The fight we all want to see for ages! This movie is amazing!!!

The blending of special effects and breath taking action scenes really blows you away and aadding some drama and romance to the story you have the perfect cocktail to enjoy with your family on a Saturday night:)

From the start the movie took me out of my seat and into another world a world of fantasy where i lived from the beginning to the end of the movie. I recommend this movie to all people who want to have some fun and forget about every day duties and responsibilities and also to the hardcore fantasy fans. Indeed it is not hystorical accurate,but who knows what happened back then anyway?:P

Go and see this movie you will be treating yourself to a visual and emotional feast!!!!

Beowulf & Grendel (2005)

This movie is a RIPOFF, it brings shame to the name of Beowulf!

This is a lame attempt to bring the legend of Beowulf to the big screen, this flick is no more that bad television show at its best.The fact that Grendel is human is a minor problem compared to others you will see for yourselves if you are unfortunate enough to buy it and watch it, until the end.I've expected this move with great anticipation and in the end in proved to be a great disappointment!

My advice is don't buy it!Go and buy the 1999 version with Christopher Lambert in the leading role! He really does honor to the name of Beowulf and the adaptation of the poem is both innovating and appealing! For this 'movie' I vote 2 out of 10!!!!

Glitter (2001)

I really liked this movie!!!

Yes i've read the critics,and i think all who wrote bad things about the movie really didn't understand it.It is a movie that i want to see again and again.Yes, i am a huge Mariah fan but i will analyse this movie in cold blood.Indeed the acting is sometimes bad,and what do you expect, she is a singer after all.Still this doesn't make an obstacle in seeing the movie,that flows like juice in a glass.The movie is relaxing ,the songs are good, and if you love Mariah, you will love to see a part of her life at TV.I understand that she was upset after the movie, it was not the critics that upset her.It was the fact that she put a part of her life in this movie and most of the world didn't appreciate it.

Beowulf (1999)

The movie creates a world of cruel beauty!

This is a movie you really must see, don't mind all the critics, see it with your soul rather than your brain and you will understand.The music combined with the setting and Mr Lambert's acting and especially his voice creates an universe you will want to visit again and again by seeing this movie.Believe me I am from Romania and I happened to be there at the time of the filming and I know what I am talking about.Fight scenes,story line acting and music all blend in to create a true epic.The movie is ,a hybrid it it was a song it would be placed in the alternative genere.It is a mixture of Mortal Kombat,medieval fantasy and horror stories.I give this movie a full 10/10!
