The Get Down (2016–2017)

A good history review; The origin of Hip Hop - If there should be one.

Watched with my 20 yr old Son before he left for College. After getting past the poor acting and the feeling that I was watching the "Last Dragon II" I was able to explain the arc of music. My generation is fortunate to see the emergence of Reggie, decline of Rock & Roll, decrease of R&B bands/Groups & death of Disco. All this over a twenty year period. Which is now mark with the rise of Hip Hop & Rap which continues today. This opened a discussion over the parallel arc of drugs from LSD, Heroin, PCP & Crack. Furthermore we were able to talk about politics cause and effects, crime, gangs, inner city life etc. Bottom line I was able to show him how good he has it. He didn't have to worry about what color to wear or neighborhood to avoid. He was well feed and never had to check a Payphone for a forgotten quarter. His life is full of electronics, color TV and wireless phones. But the downward trend of the creative bands and R&B groups will leave a hole in his generation. Which is why most movies are rehashed, poorly acted repeats or saga's. And although this series is fresh and new the characters, Director and Writers are wack, look too young and give no life to what Could have been a great story.

Worst Music Sound Track Of All Time!!!!!

This is an interesting series however it does not reach the altitude of a "Must Watch" series like The Shield or The Wire. Why you ask? Well it call come down to the sound track. This series has all the needed elements, Good major character, unique time period and interesting topic 1900s crime drama. All of this is special but the Killer is the sound tract. I spent and entire weekend watch the complete series and each and every show had horrid music sound track which did not match the story line. All winners for a "Classic" series , this show would be a classic if they used traditional, time period appropriate music. But NO the choice of an off brand Rock & Roll minor league band has destroys the flow and impression of the event. If I were the director I would re-record all the music and then re- release the series as a new project. The Music is Bad Bad and let me remind you it's bad. Worst ever and should receive the award for worst music EVER! The music sound track does not match the period or emphasize what is about/going to happen. They should have went with classic period music which is much loved due to the River Dance Experience. I just can't express the PAIN it causes me to watch this series with such a bad unneeded out of touch music score. Story line is good save for a few wandering disjoined shots. Maybe it would have been better under the watch of an American Director.

Lots of Rain & Smoking!!!

Been watching this series for two weeks on Netflix. Enjoy the series, characters are interesting and Real looking. Meaning not the perfect polished great body perfect smile type. However Holder although starting off very cool, is now getting overly "Street" The series reminds me of Homeland - with a mail blond female who is competent in her job but a disaster in her life. Also I must comment on the current trend of the "Super Hero" female leads which are en vogue today on every movie & show. This is starting to be a boring story line. I'm sure its a PC Choice. But oh well life goes on and I expect a Gay hero fade will take over soon.

Bottom line this is a good series to cuddle up with. Lots of Rain and Everyone Smokes. Odd for such a liberal City setting.

I love this test, I remember it from school on more than one occasion. When I was young and dreamy this story may have matched. But in reality if this situation happened, it would be pure survival of the strongest. No gays, No useless people just for entertainment. It wouldn't be fair, women would not have rights and the strongest would be the leader if he wanted. This is how nature works. The characters were well balanced but the movie moved slowly and attractive. The writing was average but held my attention I would not watch this movie again nor would I suggest it to my friends. The movie got a bit crazy in the last 25 minutes. All in all the movie fun to watch for me on a lonely night. But if asked would I tell my friends to rent it, No.

Memphis Belle (1990)

Can someone explain to me How they didn't shoot each other?

In a standard tight formation I have always wonders how the side gunners avoid shooting other bombers while under attack by fighters. They are shooting 50 caliber machine guns which can shoot a mile. Fighters are zipping between the bombers. It appears to me like there would be tons of "Friendly Fire" hits on the other planes. They would be killing each other. Why don't we see or read more about this happening? Anyone please comment on this. This has troubled me for years. Thanks in advance. By the way this is a great movie. I love old bomber movies, to think that we put young men in there 20s in such a stressful situation.
