American Horror Story (2011)
Visceral and mythical, with a caveat
AHS has (almost) always been good at pushing horror buttons, spinning expectations, and providing worthy visuals. All of the above appear early in season 12. Performances are solid, unless Kim Kardashian appears in the scene, speaking through her plastic nose instead of her Botox-engorged lips. She's a distraction who is massively detrimental to the storytelling and ultimate success of the season. Anyway...
Writing is solid, themes tapping into the zeitgeist, likely fears, anxieties, and likely triggers of Generation X and beyond. Cinematography is particularly artful and effective. Check it out, but check out when costar Kim appears.
Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
Not good. Also not Hollywood.
If you've read the other reviews, you know what's wrong with the film. Sadly, you also heard a lot of white male victim whining and conspiracy theories. So...disregard the reviews that dismiss the film as part of some "Hollywood culture war." Four Knights is a New Zealand company. These are people who give a 1/10 to every film that stars anyone but a straight, white male. Besides the obvious ignorance, it's a disservice to those who give a poor review to a poor film like this.
Corona Zombies (2020)
Not even a movie
It's a messy mashup of unrelated, former projects and films, presented as a film. Please, Full Moon, just stop.
