Still Good!
10 January 2005
I just saw the movie AGAIN and I still liked it! If for no other reason than I really like Robert Urich! The story is a bit sentimental, and there are times it is a little unbelievable, but, hey...it is a fictional story! If you don't care for Danielle Steel "stuff" then forget it, but if you generally like her other movies then you will probably like it. I don't really think there is much I want to say as far as the storyline goes w/out giving away too much, so I want to be very careful. Robert Urich plays a divorced lawyer with a daughter who falls in love with a woman who is married to a man who had a stroke 5 years earlier and whom she is still very much in love with. In spite of this fact, she finds herself falling in love with Alex (Urich). Her husband, to say the least, is an extraordinary man, which you will find.... Enough said, w/out saying too much. If you like Robert Urich, you should see it for that reason alone!

My All-Time Favorite!
21 October 2004
I don't think anyone could have been happier than myself for this incredible mini-series to be released on DVD! North and South is a wonderfully written/directed/acted/produced event and even after almost 20 years, it is just as rich and enjoyable as ever!! James Read absolutely shines in his role of George Hazard, as well as Patrick Swayze in the role of Orry Main, and so many others...wish I could name them all, for they were all truly well placed in their characters. I still believe this was the best role James Read ever did, as well as Patrick Swayze. They are so believable in the roles of "best friends"! The setting begins in 1842 and moves forward on through the Civil War and just a little afterward. For anyone that enjoys anything to do with the Civil War - you've gotta see it!! I feel somewhat blasphemous saying this, but I, like so many others, loved Gone With the Wind, but North and South is better in so many ways! It is richer and deeper and with more plots and characters! Give it a watch and be your own judge!
