Halloween II (2009)
What the H*** was this???????
Too bad they allow you to put a 0 rating for movies. How this got a 5.1 is beyond me. I am a horror fanatic. It is my passion and hobby. I prefer originals over remakes. Especially 70 and 80s horror. And Asian and french horror. Now there have been some remakes that I can deal with. I understand this is a new generation andwe gotta put a fresh twist on things. Do I agree with that? No. But they gonna do it anyway so might as well not complain. But for god sake this movie was just horrible. If you wanna go off and put a new twist to Halloween fine (why is beyond me but wutever). But this movie was just completely off. Acting: HORRIBLE (especially by Laurie and Dr. Loomis) were they suppose to be funny? SInce when was Halloween a comedy? The one liners had me annoyed. To be honest the first 20 minutes seemed promising until ::SPOILER:: we find out it was all a dream. THe movie went completely downhill from there. Direction: Horrible. Where was ROb Zombie going with this? Rob Z. pleeeeeeaaaassssseeeee stop directing horror movies. House of 1000 corpses pretty good but just a copy of TCM. And why does his wife HAVE to play in every movie he directs? And why must he have all the same actors in all his movies? Devil's Rejects, not bad. But please NO MORE!!!! Storyline: PATHETIC Suspense: NONE Gore: Pretty good but horror is about atmosphere, creepiness, suspense, twists, uneasiness, musical score, etc...aren't horror directors suppose to know these things. Thank god i didn't pay to see this movie I woulda been so upset. And since when does Michael Myers grunt when he stabs someone??? Avoid at all costs UNLESS ur like 15 and never seen the originals and don't mind bad acting and pointless gore.
Orphan (2009)
I only have 1 word for this movie...WOW!!!!!!
This movie can only be described in 1 word: WOW!!! Finally a horror movie that is original, and not a remake of classics or foreign films. Whoever rated this movie a 1 to me are just complete morons. Even if if you didn't enjoy it, it Definitely did not deserve a 1. This movie contained suspense, superb acting, and a fantastic script. I neverthought children at that age can act so realistically. The movie's twist is up there with the ending of Saw and Sleepaway Camp. If you are looking a great roller-coaster ride watch this. Do one of the two things: either watch in theaters or wait till it comes out on DVD and watch on a big screen with blue ray. For those of who compare it to the Omen, I don't agree. As far as the genre and plot, if anything it is closer to The Good Son but better. Can't wait for the Blue Ray DVD. Two thumbs up for the girl who played Esther AND the little girl who played Max.
Return to Sleepaway Camp (2008)
omg!
I was actually excited to see this film especially since I loved the original. What can I say about this movie except horrible. I feel bad because there are people out there who wait tables work in restaurant cleaning just to get an acting gig. They go through schooling and acting classes. YET they manage to get the worst actors of all time. They all sounded as if they were reading the script. The dialog was horrible. The script was horrible which made it even more difficult for the actors to make it seem real so it's not 100% their fault. The ending was completely predictable and obvious as opposed the the classic what the hell ending of the original that still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand. The killings were basic repeats of the original primarily the first killing. The only reason I would give it a 1 is because of the murder scene in the woods (you know what I'm talking about) and the broom stick scene. The annoying fat guy was just horrible, I felt no sympathy for him whatsoever since he was a pain in the @$$ to others as well not mention the worst actor of them all. If you're a fan of the series, give it a look because everyone has their own opinion but don't say I didn't warn you.
Do You Wanna Know a Secret? (2001)
not so bad...
OK people, the movie is no Halloween or Scream but i don't thing it deserved that bad of a rap and I definitely don't think it should have gotten a 2.9 either. I've seen movies with worse plot, worse acting and a worse ending than this one. I went into thinking it was gonna be crap since everyone trashed the movie but to my surprise it wasn't THAT bad. The acting was about a 5, the gore was about a 2, the twist ending was about a 6 but the reason for the ending was maybe a 2. The mask of the killer was actually a bit creepy in my opinion with those big beady blue eyes (reminded me of Chucky's eyes lol). If you want a movie to watch on a rainy night with the lights off then this would be OK. Just don't expect a 'SCREAM' or "I Know what you did..." I give this one a 5.
Stomp the Yard (2007)
Racism is all i can say
I am Hispanic and I am curious to know, why is it that most of these African American cultures movies that come out always get low ratings. I thought this movie was off the hook. Talented dancers, it had a moral about education and its importance, discussed teamwork, contained some history pertaining to fraternities, contained, good acting, etc. So why did this movie get such a low rating? It ha to be a bunch of white Americans rating this because most black movies get low ratings and its quite aggravating. The only reason I didn't give it a 10/10 was because the story was not original. Explain to me why OLD SCHOOL was about a white fraternity and it got a 6.8 rating and this one which I thought was 20 times better got a 3.1? I feel it's racism. People, it's a good movie. Forget the ratings because if this starred Britney Spears and Lindsey Lowhan, it probably would have gotten a 7.5
Child's Play (1988)
holy crap
I really don't care what anyone says about this movie. I am a horror movie fanatic and i first saw this film at the age of 7. Out of all the horror movies i've ever seen, child's play ( the first one , to ME, is the scariest movie i've seen. A CREEPY looking doll, a CREEPY voice, eerie music because it's not even music its like chimes and a combination of creepy sounds, suspense and of course barely any comedy, just pure horror. Out of all the horror movies I've seen, the scariest movies would have to be the following: Child's Play, Pet Semetary, The Exorcist 3, Evil Dead is pretty creepy at times, The Others, Saw ( not a quite scary just a damn good movie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), April Fool's Day is kinda creepy, Sleepaway camp ( music and that ENDING ) there are a few more but i cant quite think, however, the tops are Child's Play and Pet Semetary. Oh, and High Tension is a VERY good horror/suspense. So if u wanna wanna be creeped out, go home, turn off the light, put the TV on loud or surround sound if u have it, and watch by yourself. It's a scary movie, well at least to me it is. I'm not scared of the movie now at the age of 25 but it is one the only ones that no matter how many times i watch it, still creep me out a bit.
Saw II (2005)
love it but predictable..here's why
I loved SAW with a passion. The end of the first one blew my mind. Was so into it that i watch it several times that i analyzed every detail which is possibly y i predicted the ending. Not a bad one at all just predictable to those who really pay attention to the first one. Here's why: In Saw 1 the girl who survived ACTUALLY survived and stated " HE SAVED ME!!!" Therefore appreciated what he had done to her because he had thus saved her from continuing to be a drug addict. So WHY would she be dumb enough to do it again and be back in the game. Only thought that came across my mind was that she appreciated him so much for what he's done, what better way to thank him than to help him have other people see why life is so fragile and important. But again was a good ending, just SAW 1 was completely out of left field and had u thinking that everyone was the possible killer up until the VERY end. What WAS intelligent was Jigsaw's rule concerning to just sit there and talk to him and he will see his son. That i did not see coming. Also booby trap ideas...VERY creative. That's what I enjoy most about the SAW movies in general. Plus Saw ! did not need all the blood to capture your attention. SAW 1 10/10 SAW 2 8/10
Darkness (2002)
What was this...
I'm a huge huge fan of horror movies and I understand horror movies aren't meant to win Oscar. It's just to sit back relax and get a good scare however there must be some plot and follow up in a horror movie. Negatives about the movie: Plot-unoriginal ( Darkness Falls ), Ending-horrible felt like they cut it off in the middle of the movie. We know what happens, yes, but badly done. Whenever we see something for a split second a few times, we expect to be revealed eventually within the movie, usually at the end. Yet, nothing was revealed. Ending also very obvious. Horror movie, blood, none of that ( not saying a good horror needs it ) The swings, overly done, takes aware from the eeriness. Acting, the boy was good, the grandfather was OK, everyone else, uh uh. Positives of the movie. Cinematography, lighting, picture in the frame, train scene, twin girls moving rapidly towards camera...that's it. I gave this movie 2 out of 10
