There is so much wrong information in this listing. Here are the facts:
INVADERS FROM MARS was not filmed in 3-D. Therefore, there were no ads promoting a 3-D release placed by the studio.
There is no official documentation that the film was planned for 3-D. An undocumented phone conversation with someone that worked on the film 50 years earlier is not proof. Memories can be very selective. Show me some official Edward Alperson/20th Century Fox studio paperwork.
The film was not disintegrating in the early seventies when Wade Williams found "the only print." There were several sets of 35mm protection elements, and they were safely stored in several film vaults.
The repetitious footage of the tanks was most certainly in the original release prints. I had one (an original 1953 35mm SuperCinecolor copy) and it included all of that stock footage.
35mm color separation elements (red, blue, yellow) do exist and are stored at the UCLA Film Archive. It has not been restored because of a rights dispute with the current distributors.
I've done extensive research on the 1950's 3-D films, and can back up these statements with authentic, documented source materials.
I hope this sets the record straight. Anybody who claims to have seen this in 3-D, or a newspaper ad promoting that release, is victim of an over-active childhood imagination!
