Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Plain, good dino fun
I have been a fan of the first Jurassic Park since I first saw it as a kid. Jurassic World was, from the get-go, a much more bombastic and action-oriented series which paid homage to the original while not losing focus of the fact that they were just supposed to be plain, good action films... with dinosaurs. Dominion brings the concept to a satisfying close, with the right amount of fan-service, great visuals (even by today's high standards) and dino battles. If you watch the movie expecting originality, narrative prowess and realism in its actions scenes, you are bound to be disappointed. If you want a good action film with impressive CGI and a nice touch of humanity and growth in its characters, you might just be surprised and have a lot of fun. A big source of this fun is Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcom, who is a gem here, while all other returning characters from the original film render on-point performances which grant credence to their respective character arcs.
Dominion is no masterpiece, but it might be the strongest entry of the Jurassic World trilogy, effectively closing the loop for this decades-old Jeep Wrangler. Suspend your disbelief, settle in, ignore the reviews, and make your own judgment. I definitely enjoyed it and would recommend it; keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times.
