The Lost Daughter (2021)
lost daughter lost plot
I enjoyed the movie. I have great respect for maggie gyenhaal. Dark and deep. Problem is it didnt go to any kiind of conclusion. A lot could have happened but didnt. So although the incredible acting from olivia coleman drove the movie along, as well as the young actress that played leda as a young woman, It needed more than leda being selfish and a little cruel to be the end result. It deserved more. All the stars i gave it was for the acting. There needed to be more.
Big Sky (2020)
Ryan Phillippe
I can see why Ryan Phillippe got knocked off in the first episode. Suicide by cop. Diabolically bad show with no redeeming features apart from Kylie Bunbury's awesome dimples.
Sensation (2021)
DREADFUL NONSENSE
I had to warn you people not to waste a minute of your life watching this c.r.a.p. life's too precious. How did this ever get a 5 rating on imbd? The story is impossible to watch and almost makes me want to jump off a bridge its so bad.
Starcrossed (2014)
synchronicity or coincidence on this night?
Drama, family and romance are the genres given for this movie. I would add mystery to those. There was a story evolving during the course of the film, it was not great but it kept me watching. Unfortunately, it dissolved at the end into a pile of plaintive questions, but then, as if to redeem the movie, the happy ending...I think...I'm not sure how they got there.
The whole thing was a bit tentative. The acting was pretty good, Eric Roberts appeared briefly near the end, a cameo performance. If the story just had a transition of some sort between the climax at the peak of the action, to the happy scene at the end, it would have been OK but there was not..it did not..really explain how they got to that point. Or maybe it did and I missed it.
It was a novel situation, it could have been a good film but in my opinion that glitch at the end spoiled it.
Black Box (2014)
Awful Dreadful Ridiculous Show
I'm amazed that this series has scored a 6.6 on the IMDb chart. The idea was good, manic depressive psychiatrist tries to not only keep her own life together, but help others. I'm still not sure what it is that turned this show into a debacle. It didn't seem to be going anywhere, no real storyline to follow. I felt little sympathy for her, her portrayal of a manic depressive was a bit hollow. I've seen her in a couple of other things and she was OK, I didn't like her in this though. Can't really blame it on her though. The rot went deeper than that. The first few episodes left me with a little bit of hope, but then it took a nose dive into ridiculousness. The writers? The director? Were they medicated or something themselves? Whatever happened to this show, I hope it goes to the Davy Jones' locker of bad film and sinks into oblivion never to rear it's dreadful head again.
Stitchers (2015)
Mind numbingly boring
I wanted to like it. I tried to like it. I even watched it from start to finish and that wasn't easy. A thoroughly disappointing effort on fast forward. It began in top gear and went into overdrive. The speed of the dialogue I mean. They were all talking so fast it was like trying to follow 'feudin' ping pong balls'. Maybe they were just trying to fit too much into one show. It reminded me of being force fed broccoli as a child anyway. I'm afraid I would have to suspend belief entirely to watch this. The protagonist is thoroughly unlikable and the 'team' are clichéd, boring and again, everyone is on speed dial. Was talking fast all they looked for when they were auditioning? Is everyone on crack? Do they get paid by the word? I love a good Sci Fi, even a mediocre one is tolerable but I'm not so masochistic that I'd want to watch any more of this. Hopefully, it doesn't make it any further than the pilot. The only redeeming feature was ... sorry, can't find one.
