Always Be My Maybe (2019)
I surprisingly loved this
I'm not into romantic comedies but I really enjoyed this. It was a feel good movie with a great sense of humor.
Truth or Dare (2018)
Not a good movie
This is a cheap movie with out any reason to be released in the cinema. Why do film companies release this stuff with out checking whether it's terrible or just decent?
The demon is a cheater also. He just makes up rules as the whole thing goes on, lame.
Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
Great movie but a very bad negative that other asians will understand
I will get to the positives first.
As a movie, this is a great piece of art. Great acting; great music; the story is good and it takes you to great journey of emotions. There is no doubt that this is probably one of the best romantic films of this summer and probably in a long time.
However, there is one very serious negative and it is the "political" side to it that only other asians will see. The title says: "Crazy Rich Asians" and it's whole commotion is that it is putting Asians in the eyes of western cinema. Wrong.
This movie honors one Asian demographic and one asian culture which is the Chinese. To westerners, all asians are the same but the reality is they are very different from each other and there is a racist like stigma with in Asia that is so noticeable in this film. You had other asian actors such as Filipinos and Koreans being casted as chinese characters... the only asian language, music, and culture is just chinese. If this is a movie that is advertised as a break for Asians then where is the rest and why are non chinese actors playing Chinese characters, why could Kris Aquino be known as a filipina, or Ken Jeong as Korean?
The reality is, Chinese culture has had so much exposure in the USA that this didn't feel like the big political deal that they made it to be. In fact, being a different asian I saw this as another thing of China putting other asian countries on the z list. We are all even here, there is no higher form of asian or more unique asian culture. This film did not push asians into the western media, it just pushed the Chinese and increasing the image as China being the only main face of Asia when it's not.
I don't want politics to get in the way of this but the reality is, it is hard to appreciate it because of this dark reality that can be seen through another asian's eye.
As to you westerners, we are all not the same and this did not represent asia at all but just simply Chinese asians.
Paul, Apostle of Christ (2018)
Boring but ok at the least
First, i think the movie should have went "the passion of the christ" route in where there is actual blood and violence just to give a much better/realistic emotional connection to the events in the movie.
The movie in itself is a huge drag and completely boring until about the 3rd act of the film. There is a scene that can get you very emotional, especially if you are a christian, but i do think they should have allowed the violence to be shown just like Passion of the Christ did. It would just give a much bigger emotional effect to the audience and we can actually see the hardships these Christians were going through.
I loved the message of the film itself and jim caviezel is a great actor.
It's Me or the Dog (2005)
Worthy for soon to be Petco employees
I was very excited to watch a reality show based on Dogs. I thought the concept of a on call trainer coming to the rescue and helping owners solve their doggy issues to be very interesting.
The first few episodes where very entertaining, i sort of enjoyed a bit of Victoria's (the dog "trainer") bit picky like criticism. I've noticed that most her episodes had her using innuendos against a specific trainer, they never mentioned this persons name, but it was obvious that she was taking shots at someone. I'll get more to this later.
As the episodes went on, i just found the dog cases to be very weak. Sure, these dogs had behaviors that an average joe wouldn't know what to do, but it was like watching some random dog trainer on youtube getting called for help. I just found her methods on positive training to be something i would see at a pet store with puppies.
Anyway, i was so curious as to who Victoria was somewhat bashing and a friend of mine told me she was referencing a trainer named Cesar Millan. I never knew who this guy was, but i ended up watching his Dog whisperer show. Just 3 episodes, i thought this Cesar Millan was awesome. He dealt with real actual dog problems and used some Taichi like Philosophies on fixing these top problems. The most common/easiest case i saw Cesar solve was portrayed as a difficult case in Victoria Stillwells show.
I still watched Victor's "Is it me or the dog" and i was getting fed up as to how this Petco like trainer was insert Innuendos against Cesar Millan in all of her videos and even books. I than watched an episode in where she is called to help a dog named Benji. Benji was a cocker spaniel with food aggression problems. this lady (Victoria) who bashes Cesar's methods, just ran into a common Dog whisperer case and not only did her "positive methods" pose as ineffective but she ended up suggesting the dog to be put down (which sadly, the stupid owners did). LOL at her advocating/forcing "positive method" training, since when was killing a dog that just needed a behaviorist considered positive?
I stopped watching "It's me or the dog" after this because i thought she was full of herself and really had no knowledge of training dogs with real problems. She should just make videos on how to teach dogs to play fetch rather than bash cesar millan. He is a million times better than her.
The Walking Dead: Last Day on Earth (2016)
Unfixable
I'm giving this a two star in respect to the actors because they did a good job and have been doing a good job through out the season.
However, this episode has ruined the Walking Dead series. I don't like to compare shows with other shows, but TWD has got to be the franchise that has the cult following just as strong as Game of Thrones.
This episode, and this WHOLE encounter with Negan is the Red Wedding of the Walking Dead franchise. Not only was this the biggest event in the comic but could have been the biggest event in the shows history and they ruined it just for cheap TV sales trick.
The last couple of episodes was just a bunch of talking however this was forgivable based on the fact that something as big as the Negan event needs to be built up, and they've hyped this up for months. BUT this is it? This was just another episode of talking and dragging to a pile of nothing. The appearance of Negan and who he will kill is where it mattered the most and they just c*blocked the audience.
This is highly unrepairable because like i said, this was the biggest event in the comic. Months will pass, and the frustrated fans will move on. The impact of the death of a certain character will not be as effective in the season opener. For one, how are they exactly going to make a trailer? Who ever is in there obviously wasn't killed.. and this is assuming that there are no leaks that will hit the net with in the 7 months. Lastly, thought of them messing the most anticipated event up, what else is there to look forward to? If they made the biggest event that boring and cheap, what more for the rest?
I hope the writers of the TWD show read this and realize that this crap they did was highly stuppp.
