Grey's Anatomy (2005– )

It went from good to eh, then unbearable. Incompetent writers.
21 May 2020
I liked it until Season 6. Then I kept watching it -just because- until Season 11. I recently checked back and I couldn't watch a single episode without flinching. To me, it went from a 7-star series, to a 3-star, then to a negative-1-star (negative, because the producers are still extracting profits out of a very low-quality show). The weighted average is now 1 star!

Every marriage fails. Every pregnancy becomes a high-risk one. Every season finale involves some big crash/disaster. Majority of the characters have been on the operating table, survived a major surgery, and never experienced a single complication during (a super speedy) recovery. And we are supposed to believe that highly intelligent characters, world-class doctors, base their arguments on emotions and irrational explanations. The drama heavily relies on situations that are highly implausible. Are the writers not able to actually produce quality writing?

Deducting points for judges and editing
3 April 2020
Everyone who watched the show with me agreed that the judges don't seem to have credible opinions most of the time. Nancy is the first one you should remove. Lorraine is next. They should really learn how to judge food more professionally.

I also cannot stand the music editing. Too many variations of music clips in places that are not suitable, it reaches a point that the music is too distracting. It feels like whoever was in charge of music just wanted to experiment with the many available audio clips they have.

I have binge-watched almost every program from Food Network that is available on Hulu and Netflix. I love all kinds of cooking competition. This one is kind of hard to enjoy.

The host needs changing too. The format should be more exciting. The twists and advantages need reassessing.

Change the panel of judges!!

Nothing special
30 April 2019
At first I was ready to write a positive review. But after all six episodes, I realize nothing ever really pulled me into watching the next episode. I continued watching it just because I did not have anything else to watch at the moment. It's an okay show, nothing special. The characters and story development is believable and easy to relate to. The swearing is sometimes to much though. It feels that every word and every sentence need to be infused with the f-word or something similar. That does not make things feel more real, it just makes watching the show exhausting.

It's OK...but I don't feel attached
14 September 2017
I guess it's okay, funny enough, the acting is good. But somehow, and I know this is probably just me, I don't feel attached to it. I'd be okay turning it off in the middle of an episode if I have something else to do (and I usually don't do that). I don't feel compelled to watch the next episode.

Overall, I think the characters are interesting except for Alex. After a season of watching this, I still don't see where she fits in the group dynamic. And her personality is not completely clear to me.

I'll try to watch this some more and see if the story grows on me. I do think the show is okay, I just don't find (or haven't found) the kind of attachment to the show that makes me want to watch more of it.

Original

This is probably the first time I'm watching a sitcom without trying to figure its similarities with past sitcoms. I like the jokes and the whole format. It is different and feels fresh. A lot of the scenes made me genuinely laugh.

Just some points off for the Jess character who sometimes comes across as inconsistent (and probably a tad too annoying).

Baby Daddy (2012–2017)

Funny..but not really about raising a baby
15 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I guess it is funny enough to keep me watching the series for more than a season. The funniest characters to me are Bonnie Wheeler and Tucker Dobbs. The acting of Melissa Peterman as Bonnie and Tahj Mowry adds to the stars in my review. But sadly, the acting of both Chelsea Kane as Riley Perrin and Jean-Luc Bilodeau as Ben Wheeler is just poor. The short-lived love story between Ben and Riley is just not convincing. Ben Wheeler portrayal as a dad completely failed. Riley completely failed to portray herself as at least something close to a lawyer. And it also bugs me that she is so poorly dressed throughout the series.

My biggest disappointment, though, is that the series sells itself as a story about a baby daddy but then tells no story at all about life as a single parent. Also, in one of the episodes, Ben left his baby to a bouncer of a club --a complete stranger! That was just unacceptable, even for a sitcom. Overall, quite funny. But the title just does not fit the story.

Just...bad
2 August 2017
I mean come on, 7.8 out of 10 for this? I agree with most of the negative reviews. Poor execution in a scenario that is forced to be twisted too much. It is irritating how the characters sometimes babble something for too long. I guess it was meant to be a heartfelt speech or something. I blame the writers for that. And the main character, Olivia Pope, either makes a sad face expression or yells for no good reason. She comes across as a self-righteous person who, contrary to how the other characters describe her in the series, always makes the wrong call and does not know how to do her job. At the end, somehow the job gets done anyway, no thanks to her.

not worth all the fuss..
24 January 2015
30 minutes into the movie... tried to crack at least a bit of a smile and waited for it to get better. But no, it got worse. Seriously, what was all the fuss about? Clearly, this movie is not worth all the publicity. It's neither funny nor educating, horrible acting on top of that. It was exhausting to watch James Franco's acting because it was hard to understand whether he was trying to be a funny character or simply dolt. I don't think it deserves more than 7 stars on IMDb, because that's usually my threshold for movies actually worth watching. And the idea of making a comedy out of a living leader of a country? I don't know, doesn't make much sense to me. For those who haven't watched it, don't worry, you're not missing anything.
