For people who liked Gilbert Grape
22 February 2023
People like different things. I have seen movies that the majority have loved and I've hated. And vice versa. I'm not belittling anyone's opinion. Each to their own.

I watched the movie based on the amazing reviews. I wanted to see what the big deal was. I was not disappointed. I absolutely loved the movie. It was heartbreaking.

My title refers to the movie "what's eating Gilbert Grape". And I honestly think that, if you enjoy this movie, you will enjoy Gilbert Grape and vice versa. Both movies are about "journeys". Except, they go "nowhere". Except, they both go everywhere.

I will watch this movie again. I enjoy many movies. But there aren't too many that i choose to watch again.

Original = Family Movie Sequel = Kids Movie
2 October 2022
I think the reviews on here are mainly based on the viewer's age. The older viewer prefers the original. The younger viewer prefers, or sees no problem, with the sequel.

As an older viewer, I can only compare the two. And my review title says it all.

The original was a family movie that I could enjoy with my parent's grandparents and children.

The sequel is a movie that appears to be made for children. That bored me and my parents and my 14-year-old son. My 10-year-old daughter enjoyed it.

Maybe the original was made for children? And it just so happened that other ages could enjoy it? But the sequel fails to hit the mark, in my opinion.

Disney Computer
13 February 2022
Take EVERY Disney movie EVER. Feed them into a computer and ask it to "write" a "new" story based on all the "correct" factors that people know and love from Disney.

Hey presto = Encanto

I could literally cut and paste scenes from previous Disney movies to make this one.

It seems that many people disagree. We are all entitled to our opinion.

I love a LOT of Disney movies. Just not this one.

Watch Season One and then stop
25 October 2021
Season one is great. Not the best TV, but easy to continue watching and wonder what's going to happen next.

Season two. Terrible acting. Too many irrelevant scenes that could be edited out. No suspense. It's like a totally different show. Awful.

Season one = 9/10 Season two = 1/10 Average = 5/10.

Freddie or Adam Lambert
26 December 2018
If you're making a biopic, learn the chronology. 70 to 74 to 78 to 76 to 81 to 77 !!! If you know Queen PROPERLY this film is appalling. If you like the Adam Lambert version of Queen, you'll probably love this crap.

Boring. Pants. Pathetic. Nothing to add. Looks like it cost £5 to make. Each to their own. Bring back Tom Baker!

What a pile of pants
28 January 2018
I couldn't even last the 45 minutes. The acting was sooooo bad and that's surely only partly the actors fault. What was the director thinking. This is like watching an amateur film makers first atempt at a "movie". VERY VERY bad. Not even the "stars" could rescue this poor excuse for a bad tv show pretending to be a short movie.

SWEARING SWEARING SWEARING NOT A FAMILY MOVIE
17 December 2017
I watched this due to Netflix' certificate of a G (guidance) As soon as the swearing started I was straight on the net and found that the BBFC had certified it as a 15 !! GREAT

I had my 5, 9 and 13 year olds watching it.

Switched it off. Very disappointed. No need for the profanity AT ALL.

All the trailers I'd seen prior suggested a family movie. I knew the MEAT thing was involved. But Beethoven was gonna be used as a gun/bullet test. So wasn't concerned.

It was the profanity that got me to turn it off.

I can't see who the movie is aimed at? It's a CGI cartoony pig hippo. That kids will love and teenagers will laugh at how cheap the cgi is and that their game systems are far superior.

Totally mis-aimed in my opinion

Stereotypical. Poor acting. Boring.
12 December 2017
My gf and I were watching this and by the second ad break I'd wandered off to my PC. We watch a lot of police dramas together and I judge them against each other. In my opinion, nothing touches "Happy Valley". That is my bench mark. Everything else has to measure up to that.

This episode was badly acted and badly cast in my opinion. The story appeared to be a direct rip off of series one of "Prey". I suppose the next episodes will determine if it moves away from "Prey's" story line.

Not for me. It intrigued my gf enough and I will listen from my pc.

Rip Off of "Over The Hedge" but not as good made on a PS2
14 August 2017
Pretty much what my title says, is my review.

Animation that would have been amazing in the year 2000, when the PS2 was launched.

Terrible voice acting of stereotyped characters.

The whole story is nothing new. You've seen it before in "A Bugs Life" and "Over The Hedge". Except both of those movies do the job a whole lot better. In fact, this movie just seems (to me) to be a wholesale rip off of "Over The Hedge"

Having said all of that, My 5-year-old daughter enjoyed the movie.

Frailty made into a series? Bill Paxton Matthew McConaughey
7 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
An old Bill Paxton/ Matthew McConaughey movie called "Frailty", that I enjoyed

Where .............. SPOILERS

A family is tasked (by God) with ridding the world of "demons" / sinners.

Well, although this is only the opening episode, it does seem, with the few pointers that we've been given, that Jessica Biel's character is being "fed directions" from "somewhere" to get rid of certain people. Who may not be all that they seem. And these persons may even "welcome" their demise at the hands of this "chosen one", knowing themselves how bad they really are.

Could I have this totally wrong? We'll see.

Whether I have or not, I recommend the movie "Frailty" anyway :)

Ran out of ideas?
11 September 2015
The Maze Runner was great. I'd almost say Excellent !

But the Scorch Trials is a complete waste of time. My gf and I were massively disappointed, after anticipating this movie since seeing part 1. I can only assume that the director ran out of ideas on part 1 (TMR) or that the screenplay writer simply couldn't follow the amazing job of part 1's screenwriter.

It seemed that part 1 was made and everything thrown at it. And maybe they didn't think anymore would be made? Therefore when part 2 was commissioned, they went "OH ... we have no more story ideas or direction ideas"

Not really spoilers ahead ... BUT ... If you took out every clichéd chase and every clichéd scene, the movie would be an hour long. Which would be better imo. As I was willing the film to finish because I was bored. And the death of a character that we'd only just met wasn't a teary moment at all. I couldn't care less. Just met them, not bothered. The film should be renamed "Maze Runner: The Scorch" as there were no trials. I think the title is misleading.

Won't be going to see next installment after this abysmal effort. Such a shame after a great first film.

OMG AWFUL! 1990's straight to video movie
4 May 2014
All of the other reviews I read said that this was good. Or at least, OK. I literally had to "skip" through bits as I found it so awful. Gary Sinise's acting is appalling. His "face" acting is laughable. NEVER did I believe that he was his character, with his Lieutenant Dan face on permanently. Vincent D'Onofrio's acting is only slightly better. But his character is so clichéd and ott, it was probably hard for him to add too much to it? ACTUALLY, I can't recall anyone acting well throughout this whole movie. Also, I cannot believe that this was EVER going to be a major release movie!? It looks like, and played like a 1990's straight to video movie. The movie did not draw me in AT ALL. And I didn't care who was an impostor or not. The whole film was dire. And I cannot get the time back that I wasted watching it.
