Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production (2015)
Faithful to classic Looney Tunes
I didn't like "The Looney Tunes Show". This show is much better. Bugs Bunny easily outsmarts everyone he meets. Lots of fun gags and a good amount of zaniness. I especially like when Bugs is against Yosemite Sam. The drawing style is not bad once you get used to it. The voice acting is great. The foes Bugs meet are interesting characters. I recommend this to people who also enjoyed "Taz-Mania", "Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries" and "Duck Dodgers". I feel this is the best television version of Bugs Bunny.
In short, this is what I was expecting when "The Looney Tunes Show" was announced. I also consider this much better than Disney's new Mickey Mouse shorts.
Dumb-Hounded (1943)
Hello, all you happy people!
Droopy knows how to make an entrance. He's a very memorable character here, more so than in any other classic short. The concept is great and would be used for many other cartoons, most heavily in "Tom and Jerry Kids" and "Droopy, Master Detective". I actually prefer this short to the 1946 remake because this features a larger variety of gags. Bill Thompson and Frank Graham do a wonderful job as Droopy and the Wolf. Droopy's sadness leads to a very funny finale where he goes crazy with happiness (this is also the final gag in the next two Droopy shorts). Side note: the Wolf didn't make his debut here, he starred in "Blitz Wolf" earlier.
Tom and Jerry: The Movie (1992)
An under-appreciated gem
I was shocked when I found out how poorly this film is received. I think it fits the Hanna-Barbera T&J shorts very well. Many people seem to forget that Tom and Jerry aren't just archenemies but also friends... they can't live without each other. Things start like a typical T&J cartoon but there are some one-time changes for this special occasion: Tom and Jerry talk and put their differences aside to help a little girl. There's still some funny slapstick like Tom falling from the 2nd floor, Jerry getting burnt in a ship's boiler and a fish biting Tom's tail. The musical score is marvelous and works perfectly with the high-quality animation. Dana Hill was the best voice actor for Jerry. The Droopy cameo in this is actually funnier than the one in Roger Rabbit.
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Disney's return
After so many years Disney finally got it right again. "The Princess and the Frog" is right up there with the likes of "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King". It may start a little slowly but turns great once Tiana and Naveen get to the swamp. Both are very well-developed characters with Tiana being a great role model. Judging by the trailers I thought Ray the firefly would annoy me but he's actually the most likable character in the movie. The story contains lots of comedy and a heart-warming message. Dr. Facilier is an awesome villain and I wonder if Disney is going to give him further appearances. The songs are catchy and fun with amazing visuals. The traditional animation is basically eye candy. I hope Disney doesn't leave this path.
