Lupin (2021)
Horrible acting
Though Omar Sy is doing what he can, he is surrounded by caricatures of actors that can do nothing to help the boring screenplay.
The story is bland and unoriginal.
Delphine 1, Yvan 0 (1996)
An attempt to an original movie
This movie starts off with a good and original idea: comparing a couple's life with a soccer game.
But the resemblances between the two are really hard to find in the plot. Sure enough, we have two famous soccer commentators staring and giving a few hints, but we really don't know where the final score comes from.
As for the story itself, i would just say it is very weak. Basically, the plot is of a guy and a girl that live together, which is as always a difficult and full of compromises situation.
And the acting is very bad, especially from Farrugia (even though i'm a huge fan of him)and Abelanski, the hero's best friends. But maybe i'm wrong. Maybe they act well, and it's just that their characters are very weakly developed. Or maybe it's a little bit of both.
To summarize, this movie isn't even suitable for passing time. I watched it thinking i would at least get a good crack, but i was wrong.
My Name Is Earl: Pilot (2005)
great series, a crackup from the beginning
"you know that guy you see going to the convenience store when you stop off in a little town on your way to your grandma's house? the kinda guy you wait to come out before you and your family go in?" well, that guy is... Earl
Like he says, he's exactly who you think he is. A thoughtless, rude and stupid guy who's always been a bully. But what the series is about is his change: by watching TV, he gets enlightened and learns about karma.
He then tries to make up for all the bad things he's done. But doing good isn't easy, there's always a lot of repercussions you don't expect.
The gags are great, and the system of flashbacks is very effective.
La doublure (2006)
Good comedy
To avoid telling his wife he's been taken in picture with his top-model of a lover, a billionaire makes everyone (especially the press) think that she lives with an average guy. This guy, the classic Francois Pignon (Gad Elmaleh), is a very limited and naive valet who doesn't understand why he gets paid to live with a model.
Although the plot is totally unbelievable, the main actors (except for Daniel Auteuil) are really supporting it. And once again, Francis Veber extremely well defined the main character.
It would have been too easy,in my opinion, to make Francois Pignon and Elena fall in love for each other, and the director avoided this trap by adding another women in the story.
