A Bit of Fry & Laurie (1987)
Triple damn and an extra slice of damn for tomorrow!
This is the BEST comedy sketch show I have ever seen, besides or perhaps alongside with Monty Python. Their characters are flawless and the duo are absolutely perfect for one another. Laurie wonderfully balances out Fry's excellent but at times overbearing presence, while Fry brings Laurie round and supports him subtly but effectively. Possibly the most outstanding aspect of this marvel is their hilarious and creative wordplay, which is made even better by Lauries comical physical comedy and Fry's occasional hilarious slapstick. An example of their creativeness is seen here:
Fry: "Which of sir's manifold hairs would he care to place in my professional care for the purposes of securing an encutment?"
Laurie: "Well, all of them."
Fry: "My, I haven't cut a full head of hair since before the war!"
Another favorite of mine is the recurring skit of Tony and his coffee-obsessed boss Control, as their interactions are robotic and excessively civil, while at the same time having innuendo like undertones. They supposedly work for the CIA.
This is, again, the most drop-dead hilarious show you will ever come across. If you see only one of Hugh Laurie's or Stephen Fry's works, let this be it!!!
The Cell (2000)
Good ideas, somewhat underdeveloped, but visually incredible.
The Cell is a movie that has really made it's own genre. It has a very unique plot, but the director failed to follow up on it and we are left hanging at the end, with many unanswered questions. However, if you are going into the theater for a good trip and a bit of fun, this may be the movie for you. But be warned. The graphic violence and twisted scenes are not for everybody. Actor Vincent D'Onofrio is excellent, and (unfortunatly) really makes you believe that this could be true. He is very realistic. His seems to be the only character that requires any good acting, and the only one that has any. J.Lo was poorly cast. She does not quite bring the character to life like it could have been. Vince Vaughn did his best in a role that required very little acting at all. All in all, I say D'Onofrio's acting is what made this movie (mostly) work.
Jailhouse Rock (1957)
Jailhouse Rock is a classic none should miss!
This movie is a must-see for any classic American movie fan. Many have pointed out that the acting is not at it's best, but that is not the focus of this movie. Mostly, it is a fun, albeit ridiculous, musical romance. It stars the ever-famous Elvis Presley as Vincent Everett, a criminal who is dreaming to be a rock star where he meets a washed up country singer. He guides him, and soon Everett is doing well. However, jail did nothing to cure him of his nasty attitude. Despite this, he meets a pretty young lady, Judy Tayler (Adler). Thus begins his off-the-wall romance with this fancy girl. He also hires her as a manager, and he is trying to make it in show biz. (This is the ever-famous Jailhouse Rock scene). However, Hollywood isn't quite as easy as he had hoped. Just when it seems Everett is destined for failure, his new love might just be able to turn him around.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000)
This show rocks! Greg Sanders is the best!
I picked up this show a bit ago and think it is totally kick-ass. It's also one of the most watched dramas. The vivid detail and intriguing science is utterly captivating. And Greg is totally awesome! Sara sidle, the lifeless job abscessed 32 year old is an excellent investigator, along with being a devoted vegetarian. Her boss, Gil Grissom, is an anti-social, bug obsessed, baseball loving, nerd. They have a brief history, along with Gil's close friend and colleague, Catherine Willows. Her 8 year old daughter, Lindsey and dirty ex-husband, Eddie are just the beginning. Warrick Brown has some mutual interest in her, though they do have a few years difference. He used to be addicted to gambling before Grissom helped him break the habit. He is one of the best csi's out there. Nick Stokes is one of the most people oriented investigators on the team. He is from Texas and is very close to everyone, particularly Warrick and Sara. Greg Sanders (best for last) is our favorite lab rat. He works in DNA but hopes to someday go out on to the field. He's got it bad for Sara, even though she's pretty well devoted to her boss. *Tear falls down cheek, runs and kisses Greg Plush Doll.*
