AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
terrible
i am a big fan of the first predator film and the first two alien film so i walked into the cinema with great expectations of these two great creatures battling it out. but when i left i felt horrible like i had just been robbed of my hard earned cash. the first major problem i had with this movie is the fact the action didn't actually start until the movie was half way through. the next major problem i had with this film is that some how the first two predators get killed in about a five minute space by aliens one of which seems to have picked up the predators talent of turning invisible?. the next tragic part of the film is that the only living predator and the female heroine Sanaa Lathan fall in love so the predator saves her life and makes her a weapon from a dead aliens tail and a shield from an aliens head. this film is terrible i would highly recommend staying as far away from this film as possible especially if like me you are a fan of any of the original films. it is also terribly film with the camera shaking about and vast quantity's of darkness on the screen not letting you get a good view of the only good alien vs predator fight of the whole film. also the fact that i has been edited in such away as to lower the rating is a real shame as the film is held back by this terrible choice
NO NOT WATCH THIS FILM!
Batoru rowaiaru (2000)
deep, memorable film.
this film is one of my best films of all time. each scene in this movie is great. this film has all a joker could want with gruesome murders nearly in every scene and a deep story line about a group of Japanese school children who are forced to play a game in which they must kill off all there friends in three days to be the only survivor. the scenes that show the classes history and how close friends they were before this horrific game began are great adding real depth to the action you witness as you become involved with the group of teens. also the use of a classical music score is done to perfection just adding to the enjoyment of the audience. but the major reason for my love of this film is because it has the best action sequences of any film i have seen I'm not talking about the big flashy explosions that are done to death in the awful bunch of Hollywood blockbusters but this is grimy and brutal murder of a close friend. the film is great but i would say it is one that must be watched a couple of time as the story lines can be hard to follow. but this film is a must see for all Japanese extreme films also i would suggest oldboy if you liked this film and most films by takeshi kitano. superb!
Oldeuboi (2003)
must see
WOW! by far the best film i have seen all year. the plot is not an easy one to follow but is totally worth it. the gripping on screen action is extremely well shot with every scene being more memorable then that of the last, the one springing to mind is when Min-sik Choi takes on a gang of about 25 men in a hallway with a hammer. this film is not for the faint hearted but if you like the whole Asian hardcore film seen then this one is a must see. i cannot speak highly enough of this film. it will have you glued to your seat. i would recommend this film to you and if you like this film also i would recommend looking into and films directed by takeshi kitano and battle royale or vise versa. see it, love it, fear it!
The Warrior (2001)
great Cinematography
the warrior is amazingly well filmed in great locations. the plot is not one of the most amazing to ever to be put to screen, and the ending did leave a lot to be desired. But this film had it's moments and Irfan Khan put in a great performance. but this is a film to be taken as a spectacle of cinematography and on that level i doubt any one can find reason to criticise this visually stunning film. i recommend this film if you have the time and enjoy the spectacle of an amazingly filmed movie but it doesn't have the best story line and the ending leaves a lot more questions then answers.
