Hunters (2020)
A Wonderful Ride!
Pacino at his best! Spectacular story. I love the it when the bad guys get there due. Well done Amazon. Superb acting all around. Hunters hits hard and deep for me, kitsch aside, my Jewish heritage loves the payback. I hope you'll love it to. Can't wait for season two. Fingers are crossed!
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
You had to live the Era
I love Tarentino, what can I say. When I head him as a guest DJ on Sirius XM Channel 6 talking about how he personally picked all the song for the movie and then played some of them...game on! Great sudo-fantasy/fact based story. I WAS GLUED TO THE SCREEN. A masterpiece touching on my favorite genre, "Alternative History"...with a twist.
Yesterday (2019)
Top Notch Alternate Reality Flick!
Premise: A world where there is no Coca Cola. No Cigarettes, and then some, but most of all, the Beatles never existed. Take a whirlwind trip where only one man, our hero remembers the Beatles. Go to see "Yesterday" with an open mind and you will be really surprised. Fun, great music and a stand-out performance by Saturday Night Lives Kate McKinnon. It's a 10!
A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
You're All Wrong.
When you go into a theatre or watch at home, always check your concept of reality. Prepare youself to be entertained, because this is one of the best rock'em, sock'em, pure action shoot 'em ups with some of the best car chases...ever. Take it for what it is, pure escapist pleasure. Get your noses out of the air.
Gotti (2018)
Travolta Did A Great Job
Though to make a Docudrama entertaining. John Travolta made a steller performance. Having lived in the NYC area most of my life made it a good flick.
I Am Wrath (2016)
Much better than I expected!
I love a good shoot 'em up! And...nothing better than a revenge flick featuring a good "bad" guy. The twist, Christopher Maloni, with a repertoire of poignant wise cracks. I AM WRATH is a great escape where you root for the good guy. Pleasantly pleased. I hope there's a sequel, Travolta and Maloni make a great team!
Rock Bottom (2002)
My Tuna Fish Sandwich for a Screen Actors Guild Card?
Whew! it's hard work when you're years between acting jobs. Having seen the "Kevin Simithian" comments from another "no nothing New Jersey movie critic", I dost protest! Having spent an entire Sunday afternoon honing my "Thespitorian" skills as an actor in this magnificent flick, what the H--L do you know! Hot lights, tough location, terrible commissary, I'm still waiting for the residuals, and to boot the trailers sucked, yea the one to promote the movie and the 1959 Winabago (no shower, TV, or hanger-on chick(s), but the stale Ritz crackers were a nice touch!)in the parking lot of one of New Jersey's 698 near bankrupt, "my daddy gave me the money to start a business" Comic Book stores. Silent Bob lend me your long coat to hide beneath, while inside I'll hunker down with my portable DVD player and watch 'Bars and Tone" because Director Steven O'Connell never even gave me a copy of his triumph(no, not the Comic Insult Dog!). Now I sit back in a Howard Hughsian darkened room, grow old, fail to cut what's left of my hair, and watch "Ice Station Zebra" 673,000 times till check-out time at the "actors" old age home.
Footnote: Steven (Stephen) Paul Garsh is a multi-millionaire retired "C" movie actor who will never forget his day on the set of "Rock Bottom". But alas, Stephen regrets that the Director/Producer couldn't spell his name right in the credits, or his compensation of a Tuna Fish sandwich. If the sandwich hadn't been eaten between takes it would have probably bounced anyway. Sorry Charlie.
