Surprised at the negative reviews
29 July 2015
I thought this movie was great. I mean you have to remember to take it for what it is a break from reality. This film focuses on the bond between the "colleagues" not really sure what to call them but it focuses on the problems within their friendships and more on their back stories. I feel the movie does fine without Matthew McConaughey, and benefits from the removal of the characters "The Kid" and Brooke. I enjoyed the addition of Zoe and her friends. I found that Jada Pinkett's scenes added nothing to the movie left me feeling that her character was pointless. I laughed so hard I'm talking tears streaming stomach cramping laughter for a good portion of the movie it was very enjoyable. I actually prefer the sequel to the original. I feel part of what makes this movie so good is that unlike The Hangover 2 they strayed away from the original plot.

Beautiful film about family
25 April 2015
First of all quite a cast although there were several members of the cast who I thought would have more imperative roles. A fan of Modern Family I find that Sarah Hyland's performance was very good and believable. I thought this film was a beautiful of a family working through their problems in a time of tragedy with the father trying to get the family back together with all the members pushing themselves away. The issues I have with this film are that there were several aspects that weren't explained. I also felt that there was a certain aspect of Johana's life that didn't get enough closure. However overall it was a beautiful film where the lost members of this family realize what is truly important.

Sid and Nancy (1986)

Disgustingly Accurate
13 June 2014
Let me start out by saying this is not a love story. This movie doesn't glamorize their story in any way. The beginning is amazingly accurate for depicting the punk scene and what the public thought of punks. Chloe Webb plays the role of Nancy perfectly people say that her character is annoying and disgusting but that is who Nancy was she was disgusting everyone hated her the only one who tolerated her was Sid. Gary Oldman portrays Sid as he was he had a bright future and it was destroyed when he met Nancy. This story shows their downward spiral together. This is amazing because it shows the truth how grim the reality of it was the accuracy of the drug abuse and effects on both physicality and the impact it has on an addict's life and the loss of ones self. I find it so brutally honest that everybody should watch to understand that time better. The only reason I rated it lower was because I felt it moved quite slow and there was quite a bit of unnecessary fluff.

Truly different writing for a coming of age drama
26 November 2013
The plot between Johnny and Alexa seemed quite average but when things became heated between Ben and Alexa he seemed to become quite childish in the fact of he wanted his best friend returned to him so he tried to take away her new toy type of deal. Although he was discovering himself I found it quite wrong in the way of getting Alexa back. Johnny's self discovery is understandable yet slightly twisted(not negatively plot wise) Alexa's feelings toward Johnny were easier to follow. And in the end Alexa seemed to truly be sorry to Johnny although the ending was more of a non-ending there wasn't much closure. I didn't like Ben's storyline because he seemed too manipulative and quite cold. I found the character of Courtney really interesting.

Warning: Spoilers
James Franco and Selena Gomez's parts were well acted. James Franco's character was annoying however I found his depiction of the type of character Alien was very accurate. The only part I could make out that was supposed to make a point was when Faith realized that her "friends" were idiots and that she had to save herself before they drug her into their downward cycle. Of reviews I've read it's supposed to depict college life so accurately but I think it shows more of how the writer believes young people have been raised without any morals or values and that hurting people and just going along without using any type of logical or sensible judgment is OK. Which honestly I don't know anyone I go to college with that would do some of the more moderate things they did without using any type of judgment. And honestly I didn't even make it through the movie I felt my brain turning into mush.

Interesting take but not worth watching
9 January 2013
The trailer makes this look really thrilling that said the trailer is a big fat liar. I thought the take was interesting showing something not about the people and more about the things happening around them. I felt that the acting was half-ass and the characters were underdeveloped people were set as couples and friends yet we hardly learn anything about their relationships. What you see in the beginning is pretty much all of the movie that is interesting. The climax came early and the ending was so long I thought it was ending 4 different times. As for the ending yes the individual you want to be the victor is however that character isn't entirely successful. The ending is kinda like the first Joy Ride movie the ending leaves it wide open for a sequel unfortunately this one was enough and they need to refrain from making that sequel.

Outlaw Country (2012 TV Movie)
TV needs this
31 August 2012
With The Sopranos and Weeds on it's last season all we're left with is too many stupid medical dramas(come on Grey's Anatomy die already) and shows about solving crimes or catching murderers. What we need is a show that doesn't have to make a statement. We need a show that is wild, exhilarating , and dangerous yet oh so thrilling to watch of course a little less graphic than Sons of Anarchy. At first I thought it was a movie and when I watched it as a movie at the end I thought that was pretty good but why would you end it like that. Once realizing that it was a pilot for a TV show and watching it over with a different mindset I realized wow this will be great when and who is picking this up only to realize the disappointment of learning that it had been passed up.

Shock and Awe
27 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Josh Hartnett plays the role of Slevin a man mistaken as a friend of his Nick Fischer if only that were the whole story...Bruce Willis plays his usual role as a calm and collected bad ass. Morgan Freeman plays one of his few roles as an antagonist. A story of revenge, deceit, double agent, and love. Every second of the film is important to the plot don't blink or you'll miss an imperative piece of the story. The movie starts with heartbreak then moves into a story that has no relativity to the beginning then at the climax everything is turned on it's head and you are completely lost until Slevin explains it all while getting revenge.

Don't let the casting fool you
24 July 2012
I thought with such a great cast of well known actors & actresses with some huge successful movies to their names this film must be great. The description even makes it sound funny. Everything is misleading this movie is total crap! There is no plot even when the movie opens it feels like it's starting in the middle of another film. The background information is developed during the progression of the movie which makes it even more confusing. It's like a bunch of small random scenes thrown together in a mess that doesn't make any sense nor develop anything. There was one interesting scene between Elektra Luxx and her sister and one cute character story between Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Malin Akerman. I spent the entire film wishing something would happen or that it would hurry up and end

Spectacular!
13 June 2012
I never could have guessed how intricate the cocaine industry was at this time. I was born post the cocaine era so I did not know how incredibly different the laws were during that time. This documentary gives so much insight into this high-speed world of drugs. I loved how the director allowed the members involved to tell their stories; however I wish that he had let them tell all of their stories & it was kind of jumpy when moving a narration when moving from one involved member to another would help the transition to be better understood. But now I'm hooked I wished that some of the involved members had not passed away because I have got to know more the system was so complex I want to know how it all works.

Captivating

Warning: Spoilers
So two brothers Tommy who has recently returned from war and Brendan a former fighter who has a family to support and are the sons of an alcoholic former boxer start fighting to earn money. Brendan wants the money to save his family's livelihood and Tommy is fighting to earn it just to give it all away to a widow of a fallen comrade. They are both portrayed as protagonists however to me it seemed that in the end Brendan came out looking like the selfish ass in the end. The final fight makes me so angry because there were so many opportunities for Brendan to do what he did during the fight before the fight. Tommy's lack of taking credit for his heroic actions and him taking responsibility for something that wasn't his fault makes him the selfless protagonist the one you root for because he is so selfless, honorable, and heroic. Brendan is the person you cheer for because he is the underdog. In my opinion Brendan only won the fight because he was a cheap and manipulative fighter not a better one. The story of hate and forgiveness was sweet.

To Each Their Own

Warning: Spoilers
I think the point of this movie is that Violet wants a life in the outside world but she is so close with Grace she will never be able to leave her. The entrance of Luke into Violet's life begins to stir things and makes her question herself; she has this great bond with her sister but she loves Luke & he can give her the life she wants. Through the movie Grace seems to be having the flashbacks about how she always has to be the winner and she can never fail. I think it's this blind and selfish drive that destroys Violet since it is expected that Grace would be as protective of Violet as Violet is of her. I still didn't understand the physical connection they shared as well like how they can feel the other sister's pain. I also completely hate Grace for ruining the chance of a happy ending for Violet and Luke.

Watching a good movie but not being in it
25 January 2012
Good movie not what I would call a good "theater" movie I mean that as if I saw it in a theater I would've walked out & said I should've waited for this to come out on DVD. It portrays the view is not everyone is who you think they are. The way she moves in with the guys after what her life was or was going to be fell apart. It was always clear that Dennis had those feelings and the way their relationship was it was always clear that those feelings were one-sided. It seemed that because of what she lost Gray was always afraid to let herself re-enter the real world which kind of made the relationships between her and the other characters seem hampered which I wished was different. It will sound so cliché but I wish the ending had a better more dramatic build up. The music didn't seem to fit the scenarios very well like when a romantic moment was happening there would be a sad song & when there would be a heartbreaking moment the music to it would be just kind of bleak not a song that would put you into that moment. What I look for in a good movie is a film that can enrapture in the film in films when you sit there knowing you are watching a movie I don't classify it as great.

Revenge (2011–2015)

This is a winner!
12 October 2011
We all know Emily VanCamp for her girl next door roles but Revenge puts a whole new spin on her girl next door role with her devious behavior. There are so many characters with connections to her I don't know which guy(all of who are handsome) to root for because of the plan which the audience is led to believe is hers I don't know if I want it to be completed. There are so many possibilities the show could go anyway and continue to go anyway it chooses. This show is a refreshing change of pace from the average TV drama and is completely addictive. Each episode leaves you itching for the next. 2011 is the year of new TV series and many have already been cancelled and lots of the new shows are left struggling yet I have a strong feeling this series is here to stay.

The Rating says it all
26 July 2011
I saw Emmy Rossum's interview with Chelsea Handler & decided to give it a watch. My hopes weren't that high because the USA hasn't done too good a job of bring UK shows over and keeping everything that made them great in the UK. This show demolishes that stereotype. The characters of Veronica and Kevin are definitely the funniest characters on the show. Frank's character makes you hate him to the core but not enough to destroy the show. Fiona is the one you all love and hate you love her for everything she does but sometimes hate her for some of her decisions she makes them for the good of the family not necessarily for the good of herself which isn't what we've come to expect from TV. This show is just amazing & is killing me for making me have to wait until 2012 for season 2.

Not what I expected
8 January 2011
This film is completely different from what I expected it to be I thought the characters would all be different than they were. The movie starts off good taking place in the current state and time that White Mike is in his life. The character relationships are good, but the plot develops too slow over the amount of time that is given. Then suddenly everything important happens at once if you blinked during that part of the movie you missed some very important key in the story. Then the movie ends but it leaves you feeling as though something else needs to happen to help make sense out of what you just saw but it doesn't. The film needs more; and I mean that in the way that it either needed to have more storyline or it needs a sequel. In the end I am unable to make a decision on whether I liked it or just didn't care. I am solid on the fact that it was not boring and cliché.

Finally and NOOO!!
8 January 2011
I am the same age as the actors were when they started putting out these movies and yes I thought they were great as they were coming out, but now the actors as well as I are older and the happy/creative/fun/moral to the story movies are boring to us now. I love how dark and how the "even in the world of magic" things aren't perfect these movies have become. I can't wait to see the second part to find out what happens these movies have become real contemporary thrillers and I look forward to seeing what happens next. I haven't read the book so I don't care if everyone dies in the end it will still be a fantastic trip.

Critics are wrong
7 January 2011
I don't really like country music but I like Leighton Meester was surprised by Gwyneth Paltrow's voice and thought Garrett Hedlund was good in Tron. I read a few reviews and heard it was boring and cliché. All I have to say about those reviews is ignore them they are wrong. I thought Country Strong was a great film there were a couple parts in the movie that moved a little slower than the rest of the film which just catches you, but I thought it was a great movie. It's not some great innovative thriller or some crazy take on a story; It's just a really good story with fantastic acting and a good movie that could bring a tear to your eye. I suggest you see it I just saw it a few hours ago and want to see it again already.

This movie is viewer confusing
31 December 2009
I have to start out saying that I hated the beginning, but my mind changed at one point and I began to start enjoying it but the ending threw me. I don't know what I wanted to happen at the end but I wanted something different. I guess I was hoping for a fairytale ending or more of the movie I felt like the story just stopped as though there was no ending just a point where it seemed like they ran out of runtime or something. I was reluctant to watch this because of how fast it went to DVD. I wanted to give a thorough evaluation of this movie but somehow I cant I'm so confused I don't know what happened, what was supposed to happen, if the story had a point or meaning, or could this even be classified as a movie. I thought all movies needed certain thematic elements & it seemed as though it was missing a lot of them. Maybe you should watch it to see if you can get anything from it or discover a new type of film.

One Tree Hill (2003–2012)
10/10
Rating Reasoning
24 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
One Tree Hill is an excellent story following the lives of seven high school classmates. In seasons 1&2 the characters are high school juniors at Tree Hill High School. Seasons 3&4 follows the characters through their senior year in high school. Season five starts four years after the characters have graduated from high school, and the following seasons follow their advancing lives and the events they encounter and problems they face. Some people have argued that it is not right to compare One Tree Hill to other teen type like drama series's that share some similarities. I consider One Tree Hill to be the best prime time series since The O.C.. The reason I am comparing One Tree Hill to The O.C. is that there are two characters that share a strong connection and maintain a relationship that is always underlying and that we all hope will become more between them. In One Tree Hill it is the characters of Peyton Sawyer and Lucas Scott and the similar relationship in The O.C. is between Ryan Atwood and Marissa Cooper. In both shows you see that these characters are capable of having a romantic relationship as well as being able to be friends in an unawkward way. Both One Tree Hill and The O.C. are and were very suspenseful and dramatic show although I would say that One Tree Hill is more serious focusing more on the challenges of life, though it does have funny moments. The O.C. in some strange way that I don't think anybody will be able to understand has a kind of underlying comedy whether it is satirical irony, physical comedy, or just a funny quote it left the show with a type of airiness in it.

Now we know why
23 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie the other day I thought it would be great I mean it has really good actors that are now very successful. I was wrong even though it has really good actors in it you in no way can change an awful script into a bearable movie. This movie is something used to torture people. This movie caused me excruciating unbearable pain. The most exciting person in this movie is Zooey Deschanel although she is only in like 4 scenes she makes you think the movie will become better although it never does she makes it hurt a little less. From watching this movie now I know why it didn't win that award. This has got to be one of the worst films ever made and whoever decided this would make a good film needs to be institutionalized. Don't watch this movie! I know you don't know me but believe me when I say I'm trying to help you this movie may ruin your opinion making mind. THIS MOVIE BLOWS!!!

Hairspray (2007)
10/10
Many re-make movies bite, but this one couldn't be more perfect!
27 July 2007
Adam Shankman is a genius!Hairspray is the best re-make I've ever seen. It has so many similarities to the original 1988 version. In the original a man plays the character of Edna Turnblad; which is the person John Travolta plays. Travolta is amazing many a time during viewing I forgot Edna was played by a man. Jerry Stiller was in the original as well as Rikki Lake so bringing them back was so respectful. The comedy was great and everyone was enjoying it. The racism of the characters was not extremely offensive in any way, and they made what could be a racist comment into a comedic moment. The actors could not have been selected better. This movie reminds us that we can do any thing we want. This movie also brought to my attention to the incredible strides we have made from that period of time. Not only is this movie wonderful but it is a view into our past showing us how accepting we've become.

It is what you are told to believe.
29 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I will not lie I thought this was a pretty decent movie. You have been tricked, while you are told it is based on a true story it is not but a grain of truth. I live in Texas and we take history classes about our great and wonderful state. First this nor anything like it happened in Texas it took place in the northeastern U.S. The person this story is based on is the same person the movie psycho is based on. The man did nothing like that depicted in the film. The man was a pervert who killed women and skinned them then wore their skins around. He was caught and is most likely in prison in the town I live in or was executed in Huntsville.

Is Marissa really dead?
28 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I don't think it would be good for the success of the continuing series. Marissa and Ryan are the 2 most emphasized main characters. Sure Seth and Summer are main characters, but they are not as focused on as Marissa and Ryan are. Mischa has stated that the series is not as successful as it was in the first season. Mischa has also said that she doesn't want to be identified by her character. She has also told the press that she would like to make the jump to the big screen. She also told the producers of The O.C. that to keep her on for another season they would have to increase her pay. I believe they might have killed her off to let her do what she wants with her career. I also think that in the next season they will focus on following Summer and Seth to school and make them and their relationship the main pursuit of the show and bring Anna back into the picture and create a new fantastic foursome. My other belief is that Marissa didn't die she went into a coma like Trey ending this season like the 2nd and beginning it like the 3rd. If Marissa is dead I don't think I'll want to watch the show anymore. Ryan and Marissa were the reason I continued watching the show without them and their problematic relationships it ends up like a daytime soap opera. And I know I would rather not watch TV when those are on. I fear the show is hanging in the balance of continuing to be successful or running flat into a wall.

True High School Life
15 April 2006
I am only 16 but I saw this movie in theaters and rented it. This movie is fabulous and hilarious. They have truly mastered the real high school experience. Cady moves into a world completely new with a clean slate. We all wish when we are in high school that we each could have a clean record. Cady doesn't have any bad high school experiences yet nor any horrifying junior high experiences, so as a result she is innocent and clueless. This film covers the peaks of the life in high school. These actresses are perfect together in this movie the chemistry is absolutely amazing. Of course the ending is unreal to actual life. This movie will leave you reeling.
