Kocktails with Khloé (2016)

Absolute Trash and Boring to Boot! Komplete Krap Khloe

The narcissism of this family is reprehensible. Khloe's ego is as big as Mount Everest. Now, nothing wrong with ego, but when there is zero personality and zero wit, then ego is a monstrosity as is Kocktails with Khloe!

This show is embarrassingly boring and guests with big personalities such as Ru Paul and David Arquette cannot do anything to save it, mainly because Khloe is just so into herself and cannot respond in a conversation with any wit or self-deprecating humour. Instead, guests suck up to her and tell her how smart she is and how wonderful she is...instead of using humour to offset these compliments, Khloe just basks in the glory and says, "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you".

Another example of Khloe's typical conversation: SEX, SEX, SEX...she cannot converse on real world issues or current events, thus her favourite agenda item for the night is talking about Sex...which gets quite boring very quickly.

Boring,Boring, Boring

I did not think that an MC could be more boring than Anne Hathway and her sidekick but Neil Patrick Harris has managed... His jokes are dull and mistimed. The winners take their sweet time in getting to the Microphone and then they go on and on and on...typical American demeanour...The British need to win all the awards as they keep their speeches to a self deprecating style and they are humorous. The American winners are so self aggrandizing that it is uncomfortable to watch. There were far too many moments in this show where it was cringe-worthy. NPH coming out in his underwear is just desperate. When the camera panned the audience, you could see stars like Oprah, Clint Eastwood, Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy who just had a deadpan look: it said it all-boring!

Behind the Candelabra (2013)

Michael Douglas is Stunning, Matt Damon Superb & Dan Ackroyd Menacing!

*Spoiler Alert*

The Oscar deserving scene was when Michael Douglas, who plays Liberace was lounging with his lover Scott, played by Matt Damon and they were watching Johnny Carson on TV. Liberace sees himself come onto the TV screen while he is relaxing at home and he absolutely flips and squeals that he looks like his father in drag! This scene is priceless and so well acted by Michael Douglas which shows the depth and breadth of Mr. Douglas skill and ability as an actor.

Dan Ackroyd plays Seymour, Liberace's manager and Seymour is Liberace's Bulldog! Dan Ackroyd plays this role superbly and he is simply a joy to watch on screen.

Debbie Reynolds plays Liberace's mother and she is priceless in her role.

The whole movie is completely entertaining and extremely well acted. Surely these aforementioned actors will be deserved of some forms of recognition vis-a-vis Emmy or Screen Actor's Guild.

W.E. (2011)

Aesthetically beautiful but just a bit predictable in Direction

This movie obviously had a tremendous budget and no expense was spared in their sets and quality of costumes and locations which are superb and the real 'star' of this movie. It appears that the director really took great pains to ensure authenticity with regard to Wallis Simpson's wardrobe as well as the Royal's wardrobe and their lifestyle. I was quite mesmerized with the laissez faire life that Wallis and what was to be the future King had created and this movie if to be believed portrays it very well.

The parallel story in this movie whilst interesting really does not add anything to the already complex and intriguing life of Wallis and Edward; therefore, had the director focused more on W.E., this movie may have been more successful.

You can sort of discern in this movie that the Director is 'thinking' out loud to themselves in the way some of the scenes are shot. The director has her actors over emphasize actions in order to convey an emotion that the director thinks is subliminal to the audience when in fact it is just too obvious that the director is a bit immature in their direction. Had this director allowed emotions to develop sincerely without the obvious conjecture of 'set-ups', then again this movie would have been dually successful.

Witness for the Prosecution (1957)

I want Charles Laughton as Council!

Charles Laughton is absolutely hilarious and superbly witty as barrister/solicitor in this film, in fact- I cannot recall any courtroom lawyer who has a better grasp of language cadence and tone and pitch as the great Charles Laughton which makes his courtroom defence posturing unlike any! Further, outside of the court, Charles has such a finicky and droll humour that I was so tickled by his badgering of his nurse (who happens to be his wife in real life).

Marlene Dietrich is superb as well. She just commands the screen and that wonderful German accent is spellbinding.

Tyrone Power is a powerhouse but I found that he somewhat over-acted just a tad for my liking; however, this does not deter the quality of the entire movie.

This is a terrific movie with a great little twist at the end, so stay with it right to the very end!

Hunt for Justice (2005 TV Movie)

Important subject matter but not sure how accurate this movie is?

This movie gives a rather simplistic glimpse into war and the war crimes of the Slobodan Milosevic regime (Post Yugoslavia - Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia,etc.) and the lead tribunal At the Hague, Netherlands of Canadian Louise Arbour.

The movie is less than two hours and in that time the director is too choppy in bringing this story together. This movie does not really flow very well and because of this I felt that I did not connect well with the characters and did not feel their pain. Yet, Because I remember watching the actual trials on TV (which were actually more interesting), I knew that I should have felt a lot more compassion and empathy for the actors portraying the victims in this movie but I did not. However, having said this, I still feel the information in this movie is important and the main character is interesting but I am not sure how true to life this movie really is with regard to the actual characteristics of Louise Arbour.

Victim (1961)

Extremely important and progressive social message and superb acting!

Since this film has so many reviews, I shall simply focus entirely on the impact that this film had on my inner emotions vis a vis the main character - Dirk Brogade who plays the barrister/solicitor.

Mr. Brogade is an another fine actor from the British screen. He is so compelling and unforgettable in this role and thankfully he does it justice because Mr. Brogade brings to life or parallels the perils of homosexuality in a time when gay people were persecuted criminally.

The Victim is an apt title but you really ponder how many victims in this cruel and well acted drama?

I urge all to watch this beautifully written and directed and extremely well acted film but most of all, follow-up the actual plot with real life struggles that gay people assumed at the time of the criminalization of homosexuality.

The Sidewalks of London (1938)

Magnificent and Ernest Youth of Charles Laughton, V. Leigh & Rex Harrison!

I have seen St. Martin's Lane's a number of times and every showing I feel like I have the exceptional privilege to witness the blooming and magnificent talents of the very young Charles Laughton, Vivian Leigh and Rex Harrison.

I simply could not take my eyes off of the screen, particularly when Charles Laughton's character develops throughout the story. There is something about Charles' voice: his pitch, intonation and fall just strike at my heart strings and the way he carries his rather large frame, well it is as if he is dancing Swan Lake! Charles Laughton is the backbone of St. Martin's Lane and along with his sidekick Vivian Leign who has the stars shining in her eyes. Both of these characters are simply magnificent together and the little ditties this film will have you tapping your toes with the quartet.

Most of the accolades seem to be praised on the aforementioned actors but all of the actors in this movie are exceptional! Their talents are second to none and it is not for nothing that Britain and the UK are so coveted for their stage and screen stars. St. Martin's Lane gives you a window into the extremely talented world of the British people.
