The Northman (2022)

One of the best films in a long time
2 June 2022
I haven't been seeing too many films at the cinema the last 5 years or so because to put it blatantly, movie makers have lost a creative touch to storytelling. And then there is Robert Eggers. The Lighthouse was a terrific movie but this new creation is his new best in my opinion.

There will be many people who go into watching this film expecting non stop Viking action. Those people have a great chance to be disappointed. While this film wasn't what I was expecting, it was better for it in the end. There is still plenty of action that held me over. I'm just glad there is something worth watching over this Marvel infinite loop that a lot of people can't detach from.

I see a lot of people calling this film too simple, and yes it is primarily a film centered on revenge, the film takes you into a series of obstacles and hurdles that come out of nowhere and keep you on the edge of your seat. I find every section of the film fascinating and I wouldn't change a bit of it.

Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Season 8, Episode 6
8/10
Not a superb finale but a fitting end
21 May 2019
I think giving this episode a 1/10 like most people are right now is a bit childish. I'll even say we deserved a much better and epic overall ending to the series but the show isn't ruined for life. Tarnished for sure by season 8 but certainly not ruined. My ratings for each episode have been a 7, 6, 5, 6, 8 and 8 respectively. I liked the overall ending but I hated the first 4 episodes overall. Bad writing lead up to episodes 5 and 6 but those episodes themselves were quite solid. I'm guessing that was the ending George R. R. Martin gave to Dumb and Dumber to help get them out of a hole in my opinion. But everyone seems to think it was horrible.

Excellent Start to New Trilogy
23 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This was an unbelievable start to finish movie that was just the beginning of what we are going to see from another great Star Wars trilogy. The pacing of this movie was fantastic all the way through. I was never bored or getting tired of the plot. The characters really make this happen both old and new. Harrison Ford as Han Solo was amazing but the newer cast has a bright future. I liked the development of Rey and Finn and I am super interested to see where they are going next. I also thought that Poe was a great addition as well. If I had to pick a favorite character from this movie alone I would go with Rey. Her story starting as a scavenger on the desert planet of Jakku, relying on her own self to just survive, on to learning her importance in the war to come against the First Order was really well done. I loved how JJ Abrams gave only little hints of Rey having the ability to use the Force. It was an amazing cinematic moment when she took over the saber fight against Kylo Ren and eventually defeated him. The cliffhanger at the end seemed like it was the perfect place to leave off with us finally knowing the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker. This is one of my favorite movies I have ever seen in theaters. Spine tingling from start to finish!

Great Movie!
18 June 2015
I really don't understand a lot of people who are reviewing this movie as nothing more as an OK action flick. I honestly thought that Jurassic World was the best movie of 2015 so far. Even better than Avengers: Age of Ultron! I think most people are getting too caught up in comparing this movie to the original Jurassic Park. It is not Jurassic Park and that is not a slice on the film but credit that they actually went to something different and it worked. Jurassic World is almost more of a reboot than a sequel. There is much more action and the pace is much faster than the original. Even though I would still say that Jurassic Park had a better story and characters than Jurassic World by a little, Jurassic World was far and away better with action. But I do know story is the most important part of a film so in the end I am rating this movie a 9 out of 10. The same rating I have for Jurassic Park. And to compare with the middle 2 films, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park 3, I rated these a 7 and a 6 out of 10 respectfully. I thought Jurassic World was a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend watching it if your a dinosaur lover or just a movie fan in general.
