Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Star Trek to the core
I have watched ALL the Star Trek series, spin-offs and this series is at the top of the heap! I have seen people whining about its long, not like star trek, etc. YOU obviously have not seen all of the star trek series. These series has very well written interesting plots on each episode that pull you in to the next episode. I had start watching this when it first came out but some reason stopped and so I started watching it again and I am wondering why I stopped watching it.
The Custodian (2012)
Wow! This seemed longer than 75 minutes but in a good way.
Never have a seen a movie that was this short but seemed to go much longer but in a good way. I was very surprised on the philosophical approach to the writing and acting and simple displays on getting the point across.
Just a well written, directed movie. I never in a million years would think was going to be any good but I 'stumbled" upon it and I am so glad I did. Watch it and you will not regret it.
Ink (2009)
What a surprise
I thought this movie was very intriguing and creative. Unique divisions in the story and yet it all goes together. You will watch the movie and then when it ends you will go, Wow, that was a good movie.
Very well written and directed. Cinematic shots and effects were just right.
Pawn Sacrifice (2014)
If you know nothing of chess ...
Then you would know that Fischer was not this way during his climatic peak to winning the World Championship. The stress on this movie was on his mannerisms, thought processes and the way he reacted in chess & social interactions.
They were greatly exaggerated for the most part. This individual do more for chess to extol it to a higher ground, more $$ and exposure. The players of today thank him for that. To portray him in such a bad light considering when you got to know how he really was was a great contrast to what we see here. If you're looking for a half-truth movie about a chess player then it's your cup of tea but if you're looking for the real Robert Fischer story then move on.
Highly recommended is Frank Brady's book, "Bobby Fischer: Profile of a Prodigy" or the highly technical,"A Psychobiography of Bobby Fischer" by Joseph G. Ponterotto Ph.D. who is a licensed psychologist and a Professor of Counseling Psychology in Fordham University's Graduate School of Education, New York City. He currently is Coordinator of Fordham University's Mental Health Counseling Program.
The Frame (2014)
Original Concept
Interesting concept that has not really been made popular. Weird motifs throughout the movie and it does have an entertaining concept of the interaction of the 2 characters. I enjoyed the movie and can highly recommend it.
The Old Guard (2020)
This could have been so much more ....
Some good action but not a lot from what you expected from a type of film such as this. I do understand that they were focusing more on the human aspect of it and being immortal and the problems facing it. I think if you threw in what some of these people went through when they discovered they had this gift would have made it more interesting AND with more action in those specific periods of time that they lived in,
It (2017)
IT is not like the original
Comparing the original "IT" (1990) to this one takes the usual route of the original was better. The original went bam, bam, bam boom and pulled you in. This one stayed way to long on building up drama when the original did it much quicker and got to the point. This also does not stick to the plot of the original and takes liberties in making it something that it is not. I am not disappointed in it because I knew months ago when I seen the (2017) clown that it wasn't going to "have IT" so this went along as planned. PLUS this is only part 1 which I did not even know because I always saw IT as one movie even though it was a TV mini-series shown in 2 episodes. The original IT was 3 hours & 12 minutes for both. This first part is 2 hours & 15 minutes so my original assumption of it dragging on is correct.
