Hold the Dark (2018)
a terrible story and waste of 2 hours and 5 minutes
Jeffrey Wright is a talented actor I can't imagine why he took this role.
There were so many holes in this story many questions went unanswered. The description said spooky - it certainly was not. It also was not mysterious. It was confusing. It also said there was an odd relationship between Wright's character and the mom. There certainly was not. There was one oddball scene between them that made no sense. The narrative never answered why the friend started shooting all the police, or why the dad reunited with the mom who killed their son, or what was mentally wrong with the dad? Or why they spared Wright.
Avalon (1990)
one of my favorites. the sweetest little movie
I watch this movie without fail every thanksgiving even though it could also be a 4th of july movie. It's a bittersweet story of an immigrant family and a larger story of how families in America changed and mealtimes too.
Also the migration of people who moved from the cities to the suburbs.
The acting from everyone is stellar especially the older folks Mueller-Stahl & Dame Plowright. But i'm also a huge fan of Quinn, Pollak, Perkins, and Wood.
This movie is part two of a trilogy by Barry Levinson and naturally filmed in Baltimore. The first being Diner and the third Tinmen, all with different actors.
Kaleidoscope (2023)
Not Folly Beach
Whose idiot idea was it to photoshop Folly Beach signs insinuating this was South Carolina. IT IS NOT! Fans don't come here looking for any of the shops, restaurants, bridges, etc. Because it's a fake out. Filmed actually on Long Island's Corey Beach. Hey Film Crew - next time use the real place no matter where it is or make up a name. I can't imagine the Corey Beach fans are happy about this either. Why fake things?
Also no matter in what order one watches the series, there are questions unanswered. Was this intentional to film a part 2 or simply carelessness? If a part 2 is intended, don't fake Folly Beach again please.
