Te shu shen fen (2013)
A disappointing movie after months of anticipation...
Donnie Yen...why?
This movie's advertising made me want to see this movie so badly, the trailer looked good! The fight scenes looked great in the trailer but it turns out it was just a disappointment as I was looking forward to a movie with fights like Yen's other movie, "Flash Point". Maybe, that's why I didn't enjoy it as I wanted to see a great fight between Donnie and Collin Chou or Andy On, but found that this "mixed martial arts" that Donnie used was a mess and nope, no Collin vs Donnie Part II.
The story line is really predictable and boring and Donnie is portrayed as a literally stupid character who knows how to fight. Donnie's first fight near the start of the movie was a big disappointment as Donnie literally just crawls around on the ground the whole time fighting Ken Lo's character, during a mah jong game.
If you are going to watch this movie and expect "Sha Po Lang" or "Flash Point", you will be disappointed. If you are a Donnie Yen fan and expect to see some good acting, you might be disappointed. If you see this and lower your expectations, you might not be disappointed!
Ride Along (2014)
A hilarious and entertaining movie.
Kevin Hart exploding in Hollywood with his first movie in 2014 along with rapper Ice Cube.
Despite some negative reviews, I found this movie entertaining and it made me smile a lot, though I did not burst out laughing as much as I wanted to, I found this movie personally fun to watch as Kevin Hart's high energy is what I believe saved this movie and he does steal most of the scenes, especially the "arms deal" scene. But that is coming from a Kevin Hart fan. This movie did not disappoint me as I watched this with an open mind.
As I have heard that this movie was originally intended for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Ryan Reynolds, I'm glad to see Kevin Hart and Ice Cube get cast, though I do think Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would have been better for the role of Ice Cube's character, James, due to his height and build compared with Kevin Hart's short stature.
I recommend you guys go see this movie! It is a movie that is fun to watch and pass time!
