Good Omens: Chapter 6: Every Day (2023)
2023 again and again
"Hey, let's make the main characters gay" said every screenwriter in 2023. So original! Hey guys, it's old and trite. Other than that it was a pretty interesting episode that seems to point towards season 3. But, that means more of the sudden gayness after millions of years together just to make a statement in 2023. I may or may not watch it when it returns, which is too bad as I really enjoyed it before. If you really needed the gay bit, wasn't the lesbian love plotline enough? Anyway, the whole aspect of angel and demon interaction got intensified with the Gabriel and Beezelbub storyline. That was pretty fun.
Perry Mason (2020)
Very good, but
This is a very intriguing show with great characters, interesting plotlines with surprising twists, and nice historical accuracy for the most part. But, why is there the lesbian plot for Della? It adds nothing to the story and is nothing but a distraction. Still, except for that extraneous but of current social interest among Hollywood screenwriters, the show runs smoothly.
The first season blended a fictional version of Aimee Simple McPherson with an intricate murder plot. The second season is again dipping into real L. A. history involving a murder case and a supermarket war. Both seasons set in the time of the Great Depression when the average person had it bad, but the rich lived glamorous lives.
Ozark: A Hard Way to Go (2022)
Darwin is right
The conclusion does not have a fantasy happy ending for all. This series is about survival and how those that adapt best will survive. The car accident midway through the episode reveals much. The ending of the series has been building to its logical conclusion all along. I think Sallem's comment about the Kochs and the Kennedys says a lot not only about the show, but who survives and flourishes in the real world that we live.
Mersey Boys: A Letter from Al Moran (2019)
Great idea
What a great idea to see the Beatles before they were the world famous BEATLES! I think my only criticism is about the men's hair. This is either later 1950s or very early 1960s. The bartender has a pony tail and Paul and Al both have longer hair that looks more like today.
Will (2017)
pretty fun
I've read the previous reviews about the historical inaccuracies in the show. I actually have a Ph.D. in Theatre History and say that a lot of this is accurate. The areas around the theaters were carnival-like with bear baiting, theaters, taverns, and bordellos. There was a very nasty attitude towards Catholics that did include horrible public torture. In addition, Topcliffe, the Queen's torturer, was truly an evil man. My only real disagreement is the portrayal of Marlowe. He was suspected of being a spy, but I am not sure if he was looking for Catholics. The recreation of the theater is quite good as well. I think this show has excellent prospects!
This show is about those years when we truly know nothing of Shakespeare's life and how he became a part of the London theater scene. This is a fun fantasy of "what if?"
