Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
This movie is amazing
First of all, look at this CAST: Colin Firth Mark Strong Michael Caine Samuel Jackson Jack Davenport Mark Hamill Along with great newcomers: Sofia Boutella Taron Egerton Edward Holcroft Sophie Cookson Now the plot. It really sounds a little dumb at first, but when you think about it, it's actually very smart. I'm not going to sum it up, because you either already know the summary or you know what the twisted tech genius is actually planning. Also, no spoilers. I talked about the cast before, but let's talk about the performances. By far, the breakout performances are great when holding up to the great heavyweights in this film, such as Firth, Strong, and Jackson. Sofia Boutella is an awesome henchman to Jackson's villain. Yet, th good guys are fantastic too, with Taron Egerton giving one of the best breakout performance I have ever seen, and possibly the best one I've seen in an action film. Sophie Cookson and Edward Holcroft are great as training recruits in the Kingsman facility. Colin Fifth gives one of the best performances of his career in Harry Hart, a veteran agent who wants to repay our main character, Eggsy's father, by recruiting Eggsy in Kingsman. Mark Strong is also cool as tech sidekick Merlin, who directs all the training activities. You could say he's the comic relief, but really, everyone is. I haven't mentioned how funny this movie actually is. I laughed, hard , more than several times during this movie. And part of that is thanks to Valentine, played by Samuel Jackson. He is hilarious in that he I so meta, swears a lot, and has a lisp. Now for the action scenes. These are some of the best filmed action scenes I have actually ever seen, in that the camera follows the actors-yes, the actors- and you can see what's going on. The gadgets are awesome, with a bullet-filled umbrellas and lighters that are actually hand grenades. Now, of course the music is terrific, with a soundtrack that includes "Free Bird" and Dire Straits. Same with the score, composed by Henry Jackman. So, what am I trying to say? Go see this movie!
