Alone in the Dark (2005)
i wasn't expecting it to be so awful
I saw the previews for this movie so I thought I would give it a try even though i had heard from different sources that it wasn't that good, and boy it was more than "not that good" it was the worst movie I have ever seen.
The archaeologist played by Tara Reid was bad from the get go. Her acting was awful, almost laughable. She tried to play a scientific type role, including wearing a pair of geeky black rimmed glasses, but she ended up looking like she belonged an a high school drama club rendition of some bad Broadway musical.
Christian Slater was no better and what was with the long suede jacket? Please give me a break! His acting was somewhat better than Reid but overall he stunk too. I think it's time to hang up his acting career and he best find a different job, because in this movie he seemed old and washed out.
The movie just kept going on and on with no understandable, logical story line, or should say they didn't stick to one discernible story line through out the movie, they just kept flipping or shuffling from plot to plot all with different goals? Does that make any sense? NO? I didn't think so, but that is exactly what happened in the movie. Maybe you will be able to figure it out for yourself.
Madhouse (2004)
madhouse is mad
Okay, I read all of the reviews for madhouse before renting it because I hate renting a movie to be thoroughly disappointed after watching it and I must say it wasn't that bad but it wasn't as good as all of the reviews stated. I was expecting something like Session 9 and really, that is not what it was all about in fact the only thing both movies had in common was they both took place at a psychiatric institution. (Caution two spoilers ahead) I was confused many times during the movie about what era it took place in. (spoiler 1) The way Clark was dressed at the beginning of the move suggested it took place in the 1950's because of his glasses and his brown suit. Also, the institution and the lead psychiatrist's office was indicative of 1950's style. However, when we meet other cast members it becomes evident that it is in fact taking place in modern day.
I wont spoil anymore for the viewer except to say that if you are expecting something like session 9 expect to be disappointed!
Boogeyman (2005)
What a waste of my precious time!
I was really excited about seeing this movie and from the previews it looked like this movie would be a pre Freddy Krueger nightmare on elm street. Instead what the viewers really got was a horrible plot which didn't make much sense at the beginning, middle or the end. Characters appear without any idea who they are and what relationship they have to the lead character. There is no reason as to why the character's mother is nuts and what her demise is all about. The character's girlfriend seems superficial to say the least, and what is with the little girl miraculously appearing in the middle of the movie: is she dead, alive or just missing? There are images flashed on the screen that are supposed to "scare" the viewer however the images (all throughout the movie) are flashed so quickly that you won't even be able to see what they were.
Without spoiling the conclusion let me just say one thing...... cut short, ridiculous, and it made me leave the theater swearing because this was time I will never get back!
