Les Misérables (2012)
Great Musical Film!! SPOILERS!!
***See Below for more info
This is a Truly Awesome, and only Musical, version of Author ***Victor Hugo's,1862, novel, which is still considered; "One of the Greatest Novels of the 19th Century!!"
Hugo Certainly writes, of "both sides" what Most upper-classes felt, especially in his younger days!
Hugo was originally a deeply conservative person,
He didn't become more liberal, and commit himself to Liberty's causes, till Later in life, and then He Definitely Spoke Up, in life, and in the novel.
In "Les Miserable" He wrote of; How/what Hugo felt, AND how wretchedly, and deplorably, the Poor, and handicapped, were treated!!
"Later in life," In 1851s, when Napoleon III took absolute control of France, and abolished the Democratic gov't system, Victor Hugo Spoke the Truth, AGAINST Napoleon III.
Respected Victor Hugo, labeled Napoleon "a Traitor to his country," and was exiled to Guernsey, (an Island off the coast of Normandy, France). In Guernsey, Hugo wrote his Best, and his Finest work:, "Les Miserable," was one of those "works!"
"Les Miserable" centers on, one Brave man, Played Expertly, by Adorable Hugh Jackman! Known only as "Prisoner: #24601, AKA, "Jean Valjean" a chained, & enslaved former prisoner, "released" on strict parol, after serving 19 years, for "stealing a loaf of bread," to save his niece from dying!! Throughout the film/book, was followed, & chased, by a Sadistic former prison guard, "Javert" for almost 20years,(played by, "Oscar" Winner, & Terrific Actor, Russell Crowe!)
With the Trust & "Blessings" of a special "Bishop," (from whom Valjean "stole," & then was given valuables), "Valjean" lost his Hate, changed his life, and moved on,... Living, and Dying during the "French Revolution(s)," 1815-to abt 1880.
The title "tells you" where the story begins,....
....continues,...
The Cast was Perfect, and Beautiful to look at!!
Hugh Jackman; goes without saying, was Simply Sublime; Oscar winner, for this role; Lovely, & talented, Anne Hathaway, (whose Mom, ironically portrayed "Fantine" in Broadway's First road tour productions),... Was Superb, as the sick, lonely, desperate "Fantine"
Beautiful, talented, Amanda Seyfried: as young adult, "Cossette," added an even Sweeter version of "Cossette"
Eddie Redmayne, as the Adorable "Marius" (whom, as we already saw, was an exceptional actor) pleasantly surprised us, with his Sweet (dolcé vibrato) voice!!
Other Terrific casting, Is Awesome, Aaron Tveit,
As the local leader of the "Pack of Young, Revolutionary's" ready to fight (1832 ("Marius'" Friend) "Enjolras" (Also "RENT") & Samantha Banks; (who played "Eponine" on the stage, as well), as faultless, big-hearted "Eponine," who joins her friends in the fight, (and who secretly Loves "Marius," who Only Loves "Cossette,")!!
Despite being the daughter of, Abusers, "Eponine," is a Good and Decent girl & Hero!
Her "parents" are Terrible Human beings, and owners of a "House of Ill-Repute," who keep the customers drunk, while stealing everything from them,... "Thénardier," & "Madam Thénardier," played Lusciously Vicious, and Deliciously Funny, by Sacha Baron Cohen & Helena Bonham Carter, respectively!!
Daniel Huddlestone, Was particularly skilled, and adept, as the 11 or 12 year Young, orphan, "Gavroche" who joins his Older friends, In Trying to Shame the aristocracy, and in fighting, for a hopeful future, for ALL , and A Successful Revolution!!
One of the BEST in the Film Cast, was Colm Wilkinson,
who Originated "Jean Valjean," in London, and on Broadway!! This time, Played "The Bishop,"
Although I Usually Love Oscar Winner, (Gladiator - 2000) Russell Crowe, This time, I thought he
over-acted as "Javert!" Mostly, Crowe's singing voice, although okay for a background singer, was Definitely Not "up to par," with any of the other actors/singers!!
He Mis-pronounced A Lot of words, as well!!
"(Here is) your "ITIN-ERY?!?"
Oscar nominated Director, Tom Hopper directed a Masterpiece!!
The Musical score, by Claude-Michel Schönberg,
is simply Magnificent, and Original hauntingly Beautiful & Sad, French Lyrics by; Alain Boubil, abd Jean-Marc Natel, and Herbert Kretzmer, translating, and writing, the English lyrics!
*** [Wiki, or get a book, or "Google," to read about about Victor Hugo, what an interesting person, an interesting life!!]
***[Also, if You Wiki "Les Miserables" there is A LOT of Awesome Info, abt not only this BEST version, 2012, but all the Staged versions, from "The West End" to Broadway, to Hollywood & all of the "Les Mis"
films that we're produced!!]
Fox Legacy with Tom Rothman: The Shirley Temple Story (2010)
Is This Doc Streaming Anywhere, Please?!?
I don't remember where, but I did see the beginning of this documentary, which I remember, was very good! However, was over 10 yrs, ago, that I saw this Doc!! I made a note to find this Bio-Doc, when
I recently saw another movie w/Shirley!!
Now, even in our Oh So Fast, and simpler, computer age, I cannot find it streaming!! According to IMDB, it doesn't look like it's streaming anywhere!!
Recently, I did find a few old movies/TV shows, through my ROKU device, which were streaming on
YouTube, but No streaming availability, was mentioned on IMBD!?!
I'll def keep searching, but If anyone knows where this Shirley Temple Doc may be streaming, it would be greatly appreciated if someone would LMK!!
I'll keep checking this IMBD review section!!
There is One Comment/Review on this Doc, and it WAS Rated a "9" so someone did see it,
God Bless Her, it was from an 80+ year young, Lady in 2011!
Thanks So Much.
A Wedding (1978)
Different- But Pretty Funny!
Definitely different, but really, a very funny movie!!
It's Delightfully, Robert Altman (Director)!!
I watched it a few times and caught more Funny lines,
and situations, after watching it more!!
Of course, Carol Burnette is Always Funny, and with the Hilarious, Pat McCormick, made their scenes, and the movie, even more enjoyable!!
Also, Miss Lillian Gish, (know primarily for her silent films), was quite enjoyable as the dying Matriarch of the (Wealthily) Sloan Family.
Wonderful Additional Cast!!
Check it out!!
The Rockford Files (1974)
Who Didn't Like "Jim Rockford!?!?"
Okay, I may have been @12y.o. when "Rockford Files," began, but it was One of my Grandfather's FAVES, so I guess it became one of mine, too!! Besides, I'm an Old Soul.
Thankfully, growing up, I was able to spend A Lot of Time w/my Grandparents, and along the way, I inherited my Grandfather's Love Of some of these series, like Sweet 'Ol Doctor, "Marcus Welby, M.D."...the Gruff but Lovable, "Ironside," (Raymond Burr),... and of Course, the Handsome, Kind, (Tho, nobody's supposed to know😢), Helpful, (Sometimes to a fault), "Jim Rockford" ("The Rockford Files")!!
"Jim" Was a "Regular Joe" with an Adorable, and Loving Dad, (played expertly by the Delightful Noah Beery!), and some interesting friends, "Lt. Becker," (Joe Santos, and "characters" like Con-Artist, Pathological Liar, AND former cell mate, (but he WAS Guilty), ""Angel" Martin!!" "Angel," (Masterfully played by Funny Stuart Margolin), Was Definitely NO ANGEL, and got "Jim" into A Lot of Bad "scrapes," literally and figuratively,...But Good Ol' Jim,....Always remained his Friend!!
"Jim Rockford" was just a Real Guy, trying to get by, just like everyone else!
Also, Interesting Trivia: Tom Selleck played, "Lance White" (On 2 Episodes; 1978/1979, Respectively), a Charming P.I., whom Everybody Liked, Except "Jim Rockford!!"
As I Was Getting Older, I Realized How Handsome, James Garner was, and that A Lot of Women were "Attracted" to the show, and REALLY Enjoyed "The Rockford Files,"....I'm Guessing NOT for the Great Storylines!! 😉
Interesting Fact: Tom Selleck played Charming P.I., "Lance White""," in two "Rockford Files," Episodes, ('78/'79-Respectively)!! Then, in December of 1980, We All Were Treated Once Again, to 8 Years of Adorably Handsome,...Well,...Just....Gorgeous Television w/"Magnum, P.I..!!
Thankfully,...Now, We Can See Him on "Blue
"Jim Rockford" & "Thomas Magnum" Two Regular Joes, Looking Out for the Common Women & Men!!
