Life Off Grid (2016)
Poorly produced "documentary"
Core subject matter was somewhat interesting, but the quality of the production was horrendous. The audio is muffled, hollow, and music is at times mixed way too loud making dialog hard to hear. Video looks like it was shot on a smartphone, at 60 fps and for inexplicable reasons cropped to 2.35:1.
Also - 'off the grid' apparently just means not directly connected to the electrical grid like everyone else. I mean, these people have washing machines, satellite TV, internet access and watch more TV than I do - and I live ON the grid.
This was just a mess that shouldn't have been available on a streaming platform like Prime Video. We need higher standards.
Englemageren (2023)
Cliché-riddled,
This movie is hot garbage. Like someone else already said, it seems like this was written by an AI fed with the plot from every single American made-for-TV thriller / crime drama. Clichès stand in line and the plot is so predictable, that the only thing getting killed off in this movie that you actually care about, is suspense.
The script is beyond bad, and admittedly the actors don't have a lot to work with. That does not however excuse the excruciatingly bad performance of each and every person on screen. Lines are delivered with the intensity of a wooden log, and every single scene gives the impression that this was shot in week by film school students. All, but a few of the actors in the movie have performed at a much higher level in other movies. I'm guessing this was for the paycheck rather than the CV.
It really grinds my gears that something like this is even remotely associated with Danish movie making. Whoever is behind this pile of stink, should feel bad. Like really bad to the point that a public apology is in order.
Avoid at all cost, if you value the precious time you have on this planet.
Spoiler:
There are tons of questionable things when it comes to the script, but the ending has to taken the cake. How on earth, did the mother of Ludwig, manage to kidnap no less than three adults, tie them up and bring them back to the home for young women, leave them to go get Laura, come back and have them all still be there?... absolutely unbelievable. Also, the killing of detective Jesper's wife was purely for shock effect. Considering the rest of the plot it made absolutely no sense. And why would Laura shoot herself in the stomach, when she could've just reached around and shot crazy lady directly. So many questions.

Poor man's 'Hangover'
This was not a good movie - it wasn't even a decent comedy. I had high hopes for this one, as I have a soft spot for Dan Bakkedal, but it was just very poorly written and directed, badly acted and the cinematography was mediocre at best. Only redeeming factors were Dan Bakkedal and Nick Swardson who were both kind of funny, but never really reached their full potential. Dax Shepard was hugely disappointing in this movie. I usually find him pretty funny and likable but he just seemed a bit bored with the script - can't blame him - and never really shined. Writer and director Josh Duhamel cast himself in the role of 'The Bobfather' and hired Olivia Munn to play his girlfriend. Nice one. In my opinion he's not a great actor and he's definitely no comedian.
Don't pay to rent or buy this. When it hits Netflix, watch it when you've watched everything else on there. There are much better movies in this 'bro' comedy' genre out there. 'Tag', 'Grown Ups' and of course 'The Hangover' come to mind.
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
Among the worst movies I have ever seen.
How in the world Charlize Theron ended up in this piece of garbage I will never comprehend. Everything about this movie is bad. It has absolutely no redeeming qualities. The acting is bad, the storyline sucks, the characters are, at best, forgettable and every other line of dialogue is a massive cringe fest. Everyone, from the studio to the 'writers', the actors, producers, hell even the theatres that decided to show this should feel really, really bad for being part of, and spreading this cinematic disease.
