Star Trek: Picard: Disengage (2023)
Season 3, Episode 2

Now we know where Beverly was in Season 2 TNG
23 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ed Spleelers was born in 1988- he and his character Jack Crusher are approx 34 years of age. During the second season of TNG and Beverly was "conveniently" off at Starfleet Medical which aired fall 1988. One can only surmise after the announcement we'd all been waiting to hear that Jack Crusher was Picard's son- Beverly took the job at the convent- I mean Starfleet medical - to hide her pregnancy.

All of that being said- the episode and season starts to play like a Jackie Collins novel. But it kind of works.

As for Rafi's story- I told friends Worf was Rafi's handler and I was right. Again- the plot is being predictable. Why so simplistic- what good is shocking the fans with secrets after secrets. At some point- you need to let them in on the gag to enjoy the gag.

Star Trek: Picard: Farewell (2022)

Outside of Wesley
14 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Much like this entire season and last, this episode is so convoluted and overly complex with it's too many story lines and loose strings, it is sad that a touching moment we get to see the return of Wesley Crusher wasted on this garbage of a story.

If they told a much simpler story all season instead of showing us post season one Picard's Federation, to jerking us to alternate time line 25th Century, to producer's and writers narrow opinion/vision of 2021/24 without a the long of list antagonists (Q, Borg Queen, Adam Soong, ICE, Donal Trump), maybe it would have been decent. Instead the writers painted themselves into a corner first 5 episodes then needed the final 5 episodes to untangle the mess.

It is a shame that we have seen the last of Agnes and Rios. Agnes could be any of us, shy and alone. Rios had a loyalty and determination, despite upheaval in his life and career, was always the hero.

But my main problem with all of this mess, is the repressed memories story told about Picard. The heavy past/emotional baggage is so overdone on TV and the movies, Also if his mother hanging herself was SO tramadic, how did Picard get past any and all psych evals to allow him to captain and command in Starfleet? But by the end of the day I could careless about old baldy or how his mother died.

Finally- the whole Guinan part of the story where she doesn't remember meeting Picard for the first time in 1893 is the biggest plot hole of the entire story. It basically took 35 years of Next Gen lore and said- screw you fans from before. .

Good episode but still a rip off
20 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a good episode. It was light hearted and fun, but it was a rip off of an episode of Highway to Heaven entitled Amazing Man. The premise of a boy visited at night by what he thinks is a super hero? Seems a little to close to me.

Meh...
21 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I rewatched all of season 1 through 3 inside of last week anticipating season 4. I laughed my ass off again like I had never seen the show and the script, story and jokes were so good. Those first three season were a funny, tight story that made me want more by the end of season 3. I like everyone was heart broken after season three for Midge and Susie and ecstatic for Joel, wished I had the guts of Abe and Rose and longed for the freeness of Moishe and Shirley. In short the show was a phenomenon and I felt entertained. Then the "pandemic" hit...

Two years later we got Amazon dropping only two episodes on release day and it was crap.

I watched episode one "The Wonder Wheel". The only wonder about that episode was I was wondering when I would laugh. I thought- okay it will get better after the season premier and subsequent episodes would be funnier.

The only thing funny about Billy Jones and the Orgy Lamps was I wasted 55 minutes of my life watching this crap. The whole running gag about the kitchen organization and Midge's bedroom were about as funny as dropping a brick on my foot and these were the only gags that were anywhere near funny. The entire episode was depressing and sad. Even when the characters faced adversity in the first three season- it was funny.

Two years in between season and this is the best they could come up with? The first two episodes of this season were summed up when Midge and Susie were in Bobby's club making fun of the old boy boy comedians doing the same schtick. Season 4 seems like a rerun of the last 3 season.

An old face returns
27 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
More of an episode of the Mandalorian - was a treat. This episode shows that although TBoBF is a good show- Mandalorian is a special show. Without giving too much- showing Mando reconnecting with the Armorer and Peli Motto (and her droids) made us remember the characters in that show were so good. Even Fennec seemed cooler in this episode. I do hope we get to see Grogu in TBoBF helping the new Daimyo fight off the Pykes.

Tacoma FD: Fire at the Fire Station (2021)
Season 3, Episode 13
10/10
This episode has EVERYTHING
10 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There has been no bigger fire on TV since the Emergency! Episode The Steel Inferno.

Starting Terry off interviewing at Pirate World and making pirate jokes set the tone for a great episode. With everyone falling into a false sense of security by storing their worldly possessions at the station - you knew this episode was setting up the biggest pratfall in the show's three season. When they were fighting the fire at their own station- they broke every rule of fire fighting and may be the only time you laugh while watching a building burn. Poor Andy, Ike and Granny. Only Lucy's possessions were saved- but she did pop her "lady nut" saving Ike.

But like a good infomercial- WAIT- there's more! Wolf showing up as the new fire inspector and reigniting the blaze was genius! Commissioner Eddie Penisi Sr showing up to berate his lame duck son in law and firing his own son was great! Why? Because it means CLIFFHANGER! Another renewal of the best show on TV and a 4th season of fine entertainment can't come soon enough. Thank you TruTV.

Sierra: The Urban Rangers (1974)

Critics cost viewers a good show
21 September 2021
This show was cancelled because reviews by critics turned people off and NBC decided it was to go head to head with the Waltons- what a shame.

This crossover with Emergency! Should have been the premier episode and NBC should have had it follow Emergency! On Saturday nights. The cast was good, the story is tight and so was the script and dialogue. With a beautiful back drop- this show should have killed in the ratings.

I watched this on youtube, fairly easy to find. Just search on Sierra and Emergency! It is in 6 parts. The quality is just okay as it appears to be from a video tape, but you can still see the brilliance the episode. Give it a try.

Lousy Movie
28 May 2005
The acting by Hayden Christensen was STIFF AGAIN. It isn't all his fault; the dialog was lousy. I really think that acting in front of a green screen doesn't help either, but he was awful.

As for the plot, I had thought Star Trek Nemesis was the worst story line, but this movie takes the cake. There are holes in the story you could drive a truck through! Padme didn't know she was caring twins! Even worse she was carrying twins and she didn't look pregnant. If she did look pregnant NOBODY NOTICED?! Come on! By the way how far along was she anyway? Then she dies because she doesn't have the will to live? WHAT?! I can understand that she is heart broken, but she has two babies to live for. Is she that selfish? I know that Lucas had to explain Obi Wan becoming one with the force which is why he slipped in the comment about Qui-Gon coming back from the dead, but Lucas just threw it away by not incorporating into the movie earlier. Liam Neeson could have at least made a cameo.

The biggest problem I have is that Vader is portrayed in episodes IV- VI as someone seduced by the power of the dark side who is now the second most evil individual in the galaxy. In this flick, he is portrayed as a dupe who chose the dark side to save his love, whom he killed. So he just decides to serve the guy who duped him and made him into a killer and a fool? If you read the original Star Wars book, written by Lucas, he portrays Vader as someone who was evil to begin with, who only wanted power. Now we have the paradigm shift thrust on us as viewers to believe Anakin did it for love. What a bunch of baloney.

These are only a few of the MANY issues with the story line.

The other issue with movie is like the last two movies; it was an orgy of visual effects. It was so much it looked phony. It didn't convey the enormity of the Grand Republic/Galactic Empire; it just made it look stupid.

The first three movies where good because they were good stories (except those damn Ewoks) with the right amount of visuals. The last three look like they were done by a bunch of monkeys on drugs.
