The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
A lot better than the original!
This film really disturbed me when i went to see it at the cinema. On August 20th 1973, police were dispatched to the remote farmhouse of Thomas Hewitt, in Travis County, Texas. What they found within the confines of the cryptic residence was the butchered remains of 33 human victims, a chilling discovery that shocked and horrified a nation. Now, for the first time, the only known survivor of the killing spree has broken the silence and come forward to tell the real story of what happened on a deserted rural Texas highway, when a group of 5 young kids inadvertently found themselves besieged by a chainsaw-wielding madman. One who would leave a trail of blood and terror that would forever become known as "THE Texas CHAINSAW MASSACRE." A disturbing and frightening film. Not for the faint at heart.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre!
First released to a shocked public in 1974, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has a deserved reputation as a compelling part of a new wave of American horror films. Terrifyingly dark and based on factual events, Tobe Hooper's controversial and chillingly atmospheric films involves the tragedy that befell a group of 5 teenagers one summer afternoon. This film was inspired by the grave-robber/murderer Ed Gein. A truly disturbing film which makes an indelible print on your mind after watching it. It may not seem scary when you watch it today but back in 1974 it scared a lot of people. A great Horror classic that will go down in history.ENJOY!
All the President's Men (1976)
Ever wanted to know about the Watergate Scandal this is the film for you!
In the Watergate Building, lights go on and four burglars are caught in the act. That night triggered revelations that drove a U.S. President from Office.Washington reporters Bob Woodward (Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Hoffman)grabbed the story and stayed with it through doubts, denials and discouragement. All the Presidents Men is their story. Directed by Alan J. Pakula and based on the Woodward/Bernstein book, the film won 4 1976 Academy Awards Best Supporting Actor (Jason Robards),Adapted Screenplay, Art Direction and sound. It also explores a working newspaper, where the mission is to get the story - and get it right.
The Sting (1973)
Redford & Newman at it again.
Winner of 7 Academy Awards including Best Picture, The Sting, is one of the most popular and critically-acclaimed films of all time. Set in the 1930's this intricate comedy caper deals with an ambitious small-time crook (Redford) and veteran con man (Newman) who seek revenge on the vicious crime lord (Shaw) who murdered one of their gang. How this of charlatans puts "the sting" on their enemy makes for the greatest double-cross in movie history, complete with an amazing surprise finish. Directed by George Roy Hill Written by David S. Ward Reuniting the director with Redford & Newman, all 3 worked together on Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
My Favorite Film Of All Time!
Paul Newman and Robert Redford make a brilliant team in which they play Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid Respectively, they would later star together in The Sting in 1974. One of the most popular screen Westerns ever made, this Academy Award -winning classic blends adventure, romance and comedy to tell the true story of the West's most likable outlaws. No-one is quicker than Butch Cassidy (Newman) when it comes to get rich quick schemes , and his sidekick Sundance (Redford) is a wizard with a gun. When these two bungling bank and train robbers tire of running from the law, they set out for Bolivia with Sundance's girlfriend (Katherine Ross). Though they can barely speak enough Spanish to communicate: "This is a stickup!", thats only a minor detail to the nicest "bad guys" who ever rode the West.
Mackenna's Gold (1969)
Mackenna's Gold
I first saw this film a few months ago on TV and i thought it was so good i bought it on DVD.Now I'm not really a fan of westerns but this film really got me interested in them. The Film is set in the Arizona territory of the 1870's. Gregory Peck is brilliant as Sam Mackenna who is the only living person who knows the torturous route to the fabulous "canon del oro." During his journey Mackenna is captured by Colorado played by the great Omar Shariff, a brutal Mexican bandit who has long sought his death. But, if Mackenna is to lead the cut-throat gang to the lost treasure, Colorado must keep him alive. En route, Mackenna and the outlaw band are joined by renegade soldiers, vengeful Indians, cold-blooded killers and "gentlemen from town" As they near golden canyon, all but Mackenna are swept by a sudden fever - the naked greed for Gold. Mackenna's Gold is one of the most exciting Westerns ever made.
