Human Trafficking (2005)
Needs to be seen by every North American
The statistics are shocking. The story is grim. And the biggest market for women and children sex slaves is the United States, much to our shame. Every person should see this movie. I hope ABC, CBS, or NBC will pick it up and show it so all can see it, not just ones who have cable. Keep in mind, the type of person who can afford to do this are primarily upper middle class professional men who have nefarious appetites to do the worst possible acts of mankind. The last few minutes are the most important of the entire film where Mira Sorvino's character states clearly the facts and why this is allowed to go on, because there is a market for it particularly here in the United States. God have mercy on humankind.
Amazon Women on the Moon (1987)
So Funny!
I just saw this movie early this morning, October 20, 2005, on the Sundance Channel. Today is the first time I've seen this movie, and I laughed my head off! This is one I'm going to have to buy for fun movie nights. Additionally because the movie is from 1987 even makes it more laughable because it looks so dated and makes it even hokier (is that a word? ha ha ha!). I recommend it for anyone who wants a bunch of big belly laughs!! My husband completely cracked up too. We rarely like the same movies, so this was a big treat. I'm calling my kids to get this movie to watch soon. Ha ha ha ha ha! I wonder what I was doing in 1987 to miss this movie! I wish these people would do another one. It takes a lot to make me giggle. The only reason I made it a 9 instead of 10 is that I wanted it to be longer.
The Soul Collector (1999)
A lovely movie
This is a wonderful movie, right there along with "It's A Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" of times past which were actually made before I was born, but I certainly came to love those movies. I don't know why people today think they have to have to have sex and violence to enjoy a movie. Also, there is a scripture that says "beware of entertaining angels unaware" (my paraphrase). There have been times in my life when I have helped someone who appeared questionable and certainly down and out, and I felt perhaps they were angels or were a test to see if I was like the Good Samaritan. I hope I passed! Take the time to enjoy this family movie with children and your elders. Everyone will enjoy it! Only the most hardhearted or jaundiced people would not enjoy it. It gets 10 stars for being a family treasure. - BeenThere
Our Son, the Matchmaker (1996)
I agree with Sheila Beers above
And by coincidence I was originally from Indiana. I had a somewhat similar circumstance when I was a teen, and there was a guy back then I should have married and I didn't. I had a mother like the woman in this movie too. This movie shows how life's regrets can turn out. That is a good lesson to learn. It is a good TV movie. Nothing to be ashamed of. Even my husband was interested. Actors were good, especially Anne Jillian and Ellen Burstyn as the formidable mother who forces her teen to give up her baby. Movies do not always have to be about enormously serious or horrible subjects to have a good message! Consider this movie to be a slightly better than average made for TV movie with a subject that is credible to those of us who grew up in the 50s and 60s, when an unmarried teen was shunned more than you younger people can believe.
