PK (2014)
A Satire on Religion from an Alien's perspective
A Satire on Religion from an Alien's perspective - that title sums up the movie. At times, it feels like a documentary on preaching the irrelevance of (some) religious beliefs and how religious gods and gurus dupe ordinary people.
However this is played in a very funny and satirical manner and Aamir's superb acting promises never a dull moment in the movie. He forces us to shed all preconceived notions and look at it all from a blank slate. Anushka's acting in the movie is also quite good and she plays the sweet but rebellious girl part quite well.
**** SPOILER ALERT below *****
The beginning and end of the movie felt like ET, however I was a bit disappointed - only for the first 5 minutes though - that they could not come up with a more non human looking representation of ET. Instead, it turns out later that Aamir's wide eyed look, his funny airplane like gait and child-like attitude will be more than sufficient.

Do not waste your time ... unless you watch it just for the sets, not story
Do not waste your time
... unless you watch it just for the sets, not story.
The only reason to watch this movie would be for the sets and cinematography - Sanja Leela Bhansali is known for this.
Story is horrible and it appears different parts of the story were written by different people.
Story is an insult to one's intelligence.
They have tried to cast the story as modern day Romeo and Juliet, but no way can that comparison hold. Romeo and Juliet was a class apart.
I wish I had seen Captain Philips instead.

Masala Story is nothing to write home about, still go and watch in 3D if you want to experience outer space
The 3D and experience of outer space is quite realistic and this is the reason I had gone to the movie.
The story is not great and there are a lot of instances of forced co- incidence and contrived situations. Reality is boring - I know - but this was a bit on the high side. However the movie does show that space is not as glamorous as it is made out to be, and it can be a dangerous and lonely place.
Being from a science background, I could not help but remember Newtons 3 laws of motion, especially how the 1st one is illustrated quite well - objects keep moving in perpetual motion merrily in a constant perpetual merry-go-round.
Bottomline: Go if you want to experience space in 3D with a little bit of story to it, however do not go for the story alone.
