Home Movies (1999)
A cartoon classic!
I discovered this show in 2022 after seeing a clip of it on tik tok and I fell down the rabbit hole and have loved every minute of this show. The humor is elite and just wild enough to push boundaries but mellows out and keeps the story going. Every character has their shining moments to humor the audience and they do so flawlessly. Most new animated shows don't have this witty, crazy, borderline offensive humor but Home Movies captures it perfectly, and reminds me of what made South Park so successful.
As an animation fan, this show has become an all-time favorite of mine, and the jokes and humor and commitment to the bits make it so unique compared to other shows. It never fails to make me laugh, and Brendon is an inspiration in a way to stick to your passions, love your friends, and take life with all the nonsense it might bring.
Black Mirror: White Christmas (2014)
Oh my goodness, I'm blown away
For some reason I had never finished this specific episode of Black Mirror, until now. Holy smokes, I was astonished at how well done this episode was. The twist was perfect, the pacing was perfect, and I felt like I was unraveling the mystery myself.
I loved how everything connected in the end, and how we get to see how justice is served using technology for both Matt and Joe. The emotions were truly all over the place and I found myself feeling sad for the guys, but also disgusted by what they both did.
I would put this in my top 5 episodes of Black Mirror for sure, and I see know why it's the most highly rated episode.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
A fun, vibrant, nostalgic movie
I was very excited for this movie, as many people were, and it truly did not disappoint. The animation was stunning, the music was perfect, the pacing was great, I truly can't find a reason as to why someone wouldn't enjoy this movie. It's important to note that this is an intro movie into the new mario bros. Animated universe, so not all characters and plot points are going to be covered naturally.
Very well done, I would watch it again and again. The nostalgia I felt watching this made me want to cry, and seeing Mario on the big screen decades after his debut was simply magical. Fun for all ages, and it's absolutely killing in the box office which is rightfully deserved. I cannot wait for the next movie to come out, this franchise will flourish as the video games did and I'm so happy to be here to experience it.
