Christmas, Mystery, Romance - 3 Great Components
1 December 2019
Someone gave a review that they didn't know where the dog disappeared to. Evidently, they didn't watch to the end of the movie. I love this movie it show heart, compassion, and not your usual holiday movie. The only reason I give this an 8 was because it wasn't like a Martin Scorsese movie or a huge masterpiece. However, it is truly enjoyable with just the right amount of each component. There was a few discrepancies but they weren't really too obvious.

Fantastic Move for Everyone of All Ages
11 June 2006
I am a very huge follower of All My Children, which Sydney Penny is in playing the role of Julia Santos-Keefer. Being a fan of hers, I thought I would record this and watch it. Wasn't really sure if it would be very good but it was an incredibly fantastic movie! This movie is great for all ages, children and adults alike. It is not necessarily a chick flick either. It is a clean movie that reminds me of the old Disney movies that actually has a moral to the story. It does have references to having faith which is not a bad thing. I know some people don't believe in God but most people have faith of some sorts. Jason Gedrick was wonderful. I have never seen anything with him before but he is a very talented actor, along with the Sheriff, Barry (now I can't remember his last name, sorry). Of course, Shirley Jones was tremendous as well as Aunt Batty. Sydney Penny is great in anything, my opinion of course. This flick is a definite must-see for all ages! (and no swearing for a change!)

The Haunting (1999)

Not awful, but not great...
26 February 2005
The only real saving grace of this movie is Lili Taylor. I don't hear much about her but anything I've ever seen her in, she always impresses me. She always plays these off-the-wall characters so you never forget her; well, I don't anyway. She was awesome in "Say Anything" with John Cusack also. She played one of his best friends. The Haunting did have pretty good special effects but was not really what I would call an edge-of-your-seat flick. This wasn't the best performances by Neeson, Jones, or Wilson. In fact, I thought Wilson's character was pretty lame. Sorry Wilson fans...truth hurts. Marian Seldes who played Mrs. Dudley was exceptional! Even thought she did not have a huge part in the movie, I thought she really added to it. I'm going to be looking her up in other movies as she was fantastic.

Saving Grace...Richard Harris
25 February 2005
I would have rated this movie a little lower but Rex Harrison was very good as Colbert. I've never seen a movie with Mr. Harrison that I did not enjoy his performance. He's an exceptional actor. Young Beau Bridges did a pretty good job, however. Good story though. Ursula Andress as Louise de la Vallière was outstanding. She was quite the buxom broad, wasn't she? That girl had "attitude" in this flick, I LOVED her! Ian McShane as Fouquet was also outstanding. I have seen this story before with better adaptations. Sylvia Kristel as Maria Theresa's character was kind of weak in my opinion. Of course, the great Olivia de Havilland as the Queen Mother was outstanding - but above all the best character was played by Rex Harrison.

Must See for Pre-Teens & Teens
24 February 2005
This movie really knocked me out of my seat! It really moved me and at times I wanted to take both of those girls and give them a good shake! This movie is intriguing & so intense with emotion. I guess that sums up teenage life, doesn't it? It was definitely a hard movie to watch but it grabs a hold of you. This should be a mandatory movie for all kids from age 10 and up to see. It is so real in what our kids go through today with peer pressure involving drugs, sex, and crime. Holly Hunter was magnificent! She was so incredible in Always with Richard Dreyfuss but my personal opinion THIS was her best performance to date. Every performance she gives is sincere and she throws her whole self into it. D.W. Moffett has a poignant role as Ms. Wood's & Mr. Corbet's father and was very good. Evan Rachel Wood & Nikki Reed were both amazing! These young ladies, mark my word, are both going to go far in the film industry. This movie gets a 10 + rating from me!

Amazing musical score & great story
24 February 2005
Well, I know it isn't a story as it is from a true event but I never really knew the background of the painting before. Colin Firth was very good. I know this sounds possibly sexist, but Colin is HOT in this movie. I'm a 38 year old gal and that's the word I have to use for him; he is much more attractive with longer hair. Scarlett Johansson does a very riveting performance of the maid. She is sweet but sensual. You can definitely tell why Vermeer found her intriguing. Everything I have ever seen Tom Wilkinson in, he always impresses me, truly an exceptional thespian. I'm not sure of the name of the actress that was Mother Vermeer, Essie Davis? She was probably my favorite in the film. What a tremendous actress she is! The musical score really made it complete for me!

Intrigue is Simply Thrilling & Breathtaking!
20 February 2005
HITCHCOCK AT HIS BEST! I loved Psycho and Strangers on a Train, but I have to say I believe this one is the masterpiece in my opinion. James Stewart is unbelievable, a truly tremendous actor. Can you imagine being stuck in your apartment watching your neighbors across the way? Yes, I'm sure we have all done this but not quite what Jimmy sees in this movie. Thelma Ritter was fantastic, a true gem. Grace Kelly as beautiful as ever, flawless, and the perfect girlfriend. This movie sure keeps me on the edge of my seat, even though I have seen it before. This flick is what makes Hitchcock the man he is. I always love to keep a watch for his signature appearance. And talk about a steamy match with Stewart & Kelly!

More Interesting than I Expected...
20 February 2005
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this movie. I know I was 6 years late in seeing it but I just didn't understand the hype. Now I know. Gloria Foster was amazing! She is not seen much anymore in the movies. Wish they showed more of her. Of course, Mr. Fishburne was awesome too! Keanu was his usual good-looking self, not a great actor but not bad either. At least he's good eye-candy! Great dramatic action movie! I have to say Keanu has come a long way from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Laurence is great in anything he does. Fantastic visual effects! All in all a gripping movie! One definitely needs to have a great sound system to fully enjoy this experience. Looking forward to seeing the other two.
