Unsuspected Cringefest
8 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Do you know how much it sucks to say that this movie was a cringefest? Yes, that comes from someone who have actually enjoyed the previously hated Thor movies and who's Thor is my favorite Avenger. There were warning signs and for the longest time I was being very negative until I started seeing so many positive reviews of the movie. But instead ten minutes into the movie I get this gutted feeling that this is cringeworthy. That I hate the idea of having to sit through this all.

Alright so the thing is I don't like sci fi so that wasn't a good sign. Why do I watch this kind of movie then? Again, I love Thor. I loved the second movie despite it's flaws because it had more of a historic/fantasy feel to it. It wasn't all bright and funny all the bloody time. It had moments with heart and even a lengthy funeral scene for a character we never really got much reason to love or to know. This movie? This movies re-introduces us to characters such as Volstagg, Fandral and Hogun. Then they're dead and gone within the minute never to be mentioned again. No time to feel one bit. No sad music. No reaction from Thor - his bestfriends. Just straight to humor and moving on. It was gut wrenching for all the wrong reasons.

That's my major issue here. Any hope for heart this movie had was replaced with humor. And people praise it. Is this what people want? 80s video game with no pause. No heart. No character? Seriously? Hell yeah I admit the first Thor movies has their awful issues too, but as mentioned above I don't always need quality to enjoy a movie, but I do need some heart. I don't need all this f*cking humor.

There are moments with so much potential for emotions without making it all so sappy, but still was ruined by humor. Thor and Loki talking and Thor tells his brother that he always loved and admired him from the get go but Loki never saw this. Then it's cut short with Thor thorwing Loki around. Why are you ruining the few moments of quiet and emotion with more bloody humor?

This movie is called Ragnarok so the only thing it got going for it regarding that is that they actually do blow up Asgard. Full time! Kudos to that. Of course we get a moment of "Aw shite" and "I might feel sadness, but it'll probably be "funny" soon too" before that too turns out to be true. There's so much potential for good story telling and it wastes it.

Let's try some of the positive things before I loose my mind eh? Fenrir the wolf shows up! Potential point wasted. So underused. He's massive and cool, but he doesn't really do that much. He fight Hulk and falls off the rainbow bridge. With a more serious movie with funny moments characters like this could be so cool and dark and used to the fullest!

A lot of good actors, but with so little heart and soul I was just left feeling like they're... just there? Tom Hiddleston as Loki is missing something. He feels... forced? And looks disturbingly much like a certain Tommy Wiseau to the point it was horrifying! Chris is a funny guy and a good actor, but the humor isn't funny. Many of the characters are good and all. But not really given neither time or heart for much more. Again, potential? I loved Heimdall's part. Maybe because they reminded me more of the earthy fantasy feel of The Dark World than the SCI Fi of Ragnarok and I liked that? Heimdall in general was great. Almost surprised they didn't just kill him too as worthlessly as they did the worriors three. Probably because Idris Elba? Also liked Karl Urban's character. Might even have felt something when he sacreficed himself if they had given any reason to feel anything but supposed humor in this soulless money wasting movie. - Some parts of the final showdown was cool? Only moments though because again and again something else jumps in to ruin a moment. Usually humor. Or the music. The music is hideous again and just pulled me right back out of the movie. Thor, Valkyrie and Banner talk about how Loki always tries to kill someone and Thor tells an amusing story of how as an eight year old Loki turned into a snake. Thor tells this story in a way that is actually very funny for once. It was one of maybe three moments that got a chuckle out of me. Never a laugh.

There might be some small moments in there that I liked too, but not worth wasting my time on anymore. People go on and on about how The Hobbit movies were just one big nasty CGI party, but what on earth was this then? In The Dark World at least they went to Norway to film the background scenery for Asgard. They filmed at Iceland for other planets... This movie is all CGI. All green screen. All bright colors and just no depths. Now that I have gotten this off my chest I'd rather move on and pretend this never happened.

Superficial cringefest not at all worthy of any praise it has gotten.

Minutemen (2008 TV Movie)

Quite good
9 March 2008
I have never really been much fan of any Disneys movies at all. Not even the classic cartoons like Bambi, Cinderella, The Jungle Book and so on... And well the recent live action movies on Disney is more like I watch if I don't have better things to do. I can get quite a tricky person to impress with Disney movies - and now I'm talking about the TV-movies, mostly not those who makes it to the big screen (like POTC). Anywho although movies like Wendy Wu and those other movies I have now forgotten the name on... shame on me... I actually enjoyed Minutemen.

It's not going to my favorite list of movies of all time, but of Disney I'd say its on the top without much problem. The acting is mostly good and for once I felt that most of the characters got a little more "fleshed out". Meaning a little more depth. And I have to agree with some comments I have read, its good that the whole meaning of the movie is forced upon you. The friendship is sweet, characters are charming, the little sister is an annoying brat and the lines are funny.

Deffently worth to check out.

Charming and funny
22 September 2007
Now I looked forward to this movie and I must say I liked it even better then expected. The acting was brilliant, the humor and lines were priceless and the whole thing is just done really well. I must say I even like it better then the book! The movie is so charming and the whole theater cries with laughter through the whole thing. It's really well made. The humor was... just... out of place! Awesome!! I think everyone just died when the bar "maid" said her name was Bernhard in such a manly voice (of course because he's a man). And Di Niro in drag... I never gonna look at him the same way... just bloody brilliant! Absolutely worth checking out!

Warning: Spoilers
The thing about this movie is that it's just unnecessary long! I don't think it sucks, but it would have been a lot better if they had cut it down a bit! It did end up a bit boring a few times and sometimes some scenes felt repeated. Some of the effects could have been better (after all these types of movies we are used to these amazing effects), but in most of the movie it worked fine.

The actors did a fine job. Tobey was supposed to be getting big headed by all the fame right? Well he really made me just dislike him for some parts. But all in all, I like Tobey and he did a good job. Kirsten has some sweet moments in the movie and I think she's a good actress, but I didn't really think much of her here. She was just there kinda. And all the singing! Common! I liked James Franco a lot and how his character changes from being revengeful to all friendly again and then "evil" again. Just sweet role. Made it more sad at the end though. The music were really cool as well.

So to sum up. The length pulled the movie down a bit, but I give it a 6!

Warning: Spoilers
Richard Gere in this kind of movie? Na-ah not good. The acting of the movie isn't really that good, although Connery is okay. There is so many movies about Arhtur, Lancelot etc and of those I've seen this is probably the worse. Gere ruins it all. He doesn't fit to this movie. Gross! Not a very interesting movie at all...

The music was okay, but that was about it. Movie got boring quickly. Camelot looked like the Disney castle thing. The ending where Arthur is dead on a float against the sunset is beautiful, but that's about it.

It could be better cast choices because as said, Gere is too... what can I say? Modern! His face is totally wrong for Lancelot...

Eragon (2006)

Someone got to love it =)
15 December 2006
And guess what! I seem to be one of the few out there who actually liked the movie! XD Sure I thought it was way sad that SO much was dropped or changed and the movie was way short for that kind of story. It was rushed indeed. But I really really liked it. Me and my best friend got really charmed. Saphira is gorgeous! O_o What a charming and cute dragon! I liked! I was very curious about Murtagh because he's my favourite in the book and of what I had heard I was a nervewrack when it came to him. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I was kinda satisfied... O_o Yeah I was! lol. He should have been more in the movie, but it actually worked for me. The fact that he pops up now and then kept people interested and I could hear other people in the theater going all "Hmmmm" and "oooh" when he kept following Eragon. They kept the mysterious Murty if ya asked me. But he's still too different from the book for sure. But I think Garret did a great job. He's strange, but I like him. I like strange. I didn't like the scar though... I always imagined it a little bigger... and of course on the back. And it all went to fast... in the movie. And he kicked ass in the Varden =) I was sad not to see his horse Tornac though, but hey! He got Brom's pretty horse! I fit the horse! hehehe. I want piccies from those parts where they ride to Varden! Man I can go on forever... Where to start? Where to end? I think the acting was pretty good. Eragon, Ed Speelers did a pretty good job actually. Brom, for whatever reason reminded me of Jack Sparrow at time (Don't even ask), I liked Arya a lot although her role is way bigger then in the book and she takes Murty's spot! But It didn't really bug me as much as I would have thought. Murtagh is as I said, accepted. Bigger role would been even better.

The music was okay, I love Avril's song! It's gorgeous, but they cut it down in the credits! Grrr! And I swear Garret's last name was HeLdlund... not Hedlund... haha ah well.

Scenes I liked... Uhm... Murtagh popping up now and then! Wiihiii! There came a little "Woop!" from me when he first is seen in... Daret? And then when he aims his arrow towards Eragon and you don't really know if it's he he will shoot. I also loved all the riding in the landscapes parts. Beautiful! And they kept at least a little "Eragon and Murtagh" bonding in the movie, but sadly waaaaay too little. Lovely that Murty still saves his life. They're so cute. Should have been more scenes between them, but well I got the book! :P OOhhhh and the waking up scene at the end... *clutches heart* That was a sweet moment. But also the one right before where sad with Eragon and Saphira on the battle field. Oh! I loved most scenes with Saphira. Everyone went "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" in the theater. Everyone!!! At the baby Saphira. Man that was cute! I loved Rachel's voice! Brilliant! Anyway so to end it somewhere... I am tired now and it's in the middle of the night so I have probably messed up everything here and forgotten stuff :P But all in all. I love the movie - I love the book. They are like two different stories, but I love both. Minus for all the changes from the book (although they don't disappoint me as much as expected and as they do to others) and because of the shortness of the movie. Waaaaay way short! + for Saphira, Murtagh and just the fact that I wasn't as disappointed as I thought... Oh One last thing! You can't compare the story to LOTR! LOTR is unique... Eragon isn't as good (seen away from it being different from the book), but... I mean... What do I mean... haha... Just don't compare those two... as in how good they are (not the likeness) It's easy to impress me! =) And my best friend loved it too... We are SO going to the movies to see it again between Christmas eve and New Years Eve!

Special
29 November 2006
It's scary how much of this isn't actually far from what can happen. The effects in the movie is amazing and the start is awesome made. But that's about it that's good about it. The movie drags on for too long and gets boring. And a movie isn't rarely good just because of amazing effects. Happy endings is okay now and then, but here? It could be more realistic not having all of the main characters surviving. Kinda ruined by the American clichés.

The acting is okay, but five of the stars is given to the start. I jumped in the seat in the cinema a few times just because some of the scenes were quite powerful. Watching the sea just rise over NYC? Jeiks.

Good movie, worth checking out, but too long and it gets boring! Could've been much better!

Waste of time and money
6 November 2006
Whether it was a cheap production or not, those monies could have been used for something much better. I'm going to give credit for trying to continue on the original Eerie Indiana (1991), but there is nothing that captured me with this version. Just as in movie sequels. If the sequel does not have any actors from the first movie, it wont be the same! If you watched the original Eerie Indiana and fell in love with those characters then the actors that played them will stay as the "real" characters, if you know what I mean. Seeing those actors as Mitchell and Stanley makes me wanna cry. It just looks like a parody on Marshall and Simon! And how can I say this without being rude... Mitchell and Stanley isn't the most "manly" names either... it's all a parody! I'm sorry but this version did not work at all for me! Omri, Justin, Jason... everyone from Eerie (1991) only gets sorely missed watching this version. It's so so so so sad that the show was canceled, but if ever making a remake... I doubt I would like it. If ever making a "sequel" kinda thing it would need to have the same actors... just an older version...

Over and out!

A Memoriable show I'll never forget
1 November 2006
I was 4 years old in 1991 when the show was new. I doubt it was that long ago when I first saw the show, although I don't remember the year I'm sure it was before 2000 when I did. And I loved it. I can't believe the show is so old now. I really loved this show when I was younger cause it was all weird, funny and just a piece of genius. I always loved the strange shows, people and this show had it all. Dash X was my favorite character (and seems like I'm not the only one). He was weird, funny, evil and good at the same time! And he had so many questions which also the viewers got. And then it was canceled?? That is always going to sadden me :( They still show Eerie Indiana on Jetix over here, but I'm at school then, but I'll watch it when I can. Brings back fun memories. I also remember that one time they showed the other version of Eerie Indiana from 1998. I didn't know it wasn't the same show and just didn't get why on earth the characters name was different and they looked air blown (I was a kid! ha ha). I found out it wasn't the same. A remake or a continue of a show that does not have the same actors as the original one rarely is good. In my opinion that is. It's like with movies. If a sequel does not have the same actors then it kind of looses what you fell in love with :( Makes me happy to see how many people actually loved this show and I admit. I wish it would be possible to continue the show now... But only if the same actors could be used... which is pretty much impossible since they're grown guys now. But a "Eerie Indiana - 15 years later" or whatever could be fun. I could cry my eyes out to see how it all would end :( We never found out about Dash *sob*

I can't remember if I've seen every episode (only 19!! *cries some more*) but I've seen most and of course the show just took off even more when mystical little Dashie entered! Jason just nailed him every time! In the "Corn" episode he's amazing and touching, he's fun in "Pj's zombies" (somethin') and just great in the rest! Anyway, this show is a part of my childhood memories and I wont forget it. Although I'm now 19, it never seem to get childish. Everyone can watch it!
