The first time I saw this I didn't get it, it seems this movie is like a bad joke that you need to do a research on the internet for someone to explain it to you.
I understand that this is supposed to be comedy horror but it seems this movie has a hard time deciding between horror and comedy and its not particularly scary or funny.
Lets get that straight this movie is absolutely not scary its full of cheesy jump scares and is just general horror cheesfest
thats 1 thing and I think that the main reason why this movie is bad because as a horror its a complete trash while at the same giving impression that its mainly intended to be a serious horror movie.
It just takes itself too serious at times and when it shows these "comedy" parts it leaves people wondering are they watching poorly written horror movie or comedy or something else and since those comedy parts are so poorly implemented, most of the time only barely good and relatively rare while still funny seems like out of place and part of this movie that looks like it tries to be serious but just fails, not something separate that is intended to be for laughs, sort of becomes like on of these "so bad its good" type of movies, like the wicker man 2006.
I would give 9 out of 10 chances that the wicker man '06 was intended to be serious but turned out to be a bad movie with drag me to hell I would give 8 out 10. There's a difference I give you that but still it just looks like its a bad movie not some intentional comedy-horror. You can like it but don't pretend its a good movie.
I even have a hard time imagining how such thing as a comedy-horror even possible it sounds like a toxic mix of a movie where either scary parts outshines the funny parts, the quality of a movie then depends how much horror there is compared to comedy and good it is or funny parts outshines scary parts destroying the main purpose of horror movie to scare someone, something like this happened with drag me to hell.
I would put this movie somewhere between The Amytiville Horror '05(simple, ineffective trash) and movies like birdemic or the wicker man '06. At least birdemic is funny, Drag me to hell is neither good nor so bad its good.
