A Star Is Born (2018)
Hollywood copied plot from Bollywood! A worst movie for Oscar!
Well, I asked my wife to watch this movie together as it gets nominated in 2019 Oscars. After first 20 minutes, she just paused the media player, turned towards me and asked, "Have you seen Aashiqui 2, a Indian musical drama movie released in 2013?" I didn't watch that so I said no. She told me the starting 20 minutes she watched is almost similar to the Indian movie. Then we start to watch it again. After an hour it starts to torture us with horrible acting of Bradley Cooper and his voice. Lady Gaga not an actress mate! Please concentrate on your voice, its for music not for drama.
Okay, then after 1.5 hours my wife told me the ending of the Indian film. She bets that 'A star is born' is fully copied from 'Aashiqui 2'. It was hard to believe, but at the end of the movie I see that the ending is just like my wife said before.
I guess Hollywood has reached a critical point where they are unable to find good scripts! That's why this type of old remakes are still in the box office and alas! people are buying that too. Such a waste of time!
Last but not the least, why the hell Cooper is so indulged in drugs? It is neither answered in the movie nor Lady Gaga tried to find out. Such a poor plot.
The Breadwinner (2017)
Just watch the animation. Worth watching.
One of the best animation of 2017 and probably most underrated. In a Taliban ruled city in Afghanistan, women are strictly prohibited to go outside during the start of 21st century. Parvana, a brave and resourceful girl, has no clear idea of what she is hoping to ultimately accomplish when her father was falsely accused and imprisoned for being a threat to Islam.
She, cut off her hair to became a boy and tried to dress like a boy to roam around the city for finding a way to get her father out. In the meantime, a Elephant king story was told by her alongside with the main story. The Elephant King story, which is related in chunks throughout the film, too often disrupts the flow of the main story, and its ultimate purpose to help explain the whereabouts of Parvana's missing older brother, Sulayman. Two stories merge in the ending of the film.
In my opinion, the elephant king story was the main story, as it states how a country in the middle east - which was so powerful and educated, destroyed by the empires (the invaders). The children like Sulayman, who died on the street picking up a bomb while thinking it was a toy. That's the story, that's the secret of the film - to realize. Realize the consequences of War.
Nora Twomey, the director, has previously created two of my favourite movies. The Secret of Kells - Official US Page, Song of the Sea. This one is the best, the animation, the story telling, the script, the characters and the music. Everything is perfect!
Darkest Hour (2017)
Gary Oldman, You deserve more than one Oscar!
"Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts." What a war-drama movie to watch. Gary Oldman deserves more than one Oscar. It's his best and one of the best war time political courageous movie I've seen. The biopic of Charchill shows us there's a certain irony that, as Britain stood alone against Nazism, Churchill found the courage to stand through community. King George tells him that he'll support Churchill, even if he chooses to risk the island's destruction. His wife, Clementine, encourages him in his moment of doubt: "You are strong because you are imperfect," she tells him. "You are wise because you have doubt." And then, when he asks regular Londoners on the Tube what they would think about considering making peace with Hitler's Germany, their answer is unequivocal.
His country inspired him. And so, in turn, he inspired it.
The story, the acting everything is flawless. I must say, Oldman, who has just won a Golden Globe, is in phenomenal form as Churchill. He doesn't underplay at all. There wouldn't be any point in that. He blusters and bellows, makes V signs, smokes cigars, and will win the Oscar too.
Oggatonama (2016)
Raising our sense of global HUMANITY
This is something different without any doubt. Most of the movies in Bengali are based on Love and Revenge. This movie shows various social, rural, government problems. How each and every one of us are dealing with those problems each day. The script, dialogues, acting every thing is awesome. There is a bit lacking in the direction. But it should be negligible because in other sectors the movie shows it's class. Humanity is the main part of the story. Humanity is the spirit that ties us together as families, friends and fellows. The central character, a poor farmer from a remote Bangladeshi village facing challenges at every steps of this script, sometime from the bureaucracy, sometime from his peers and finally from the traditional mindset after receiving the dead body of an 'Oggatonama' – the unnamed.
Hitman: Agent 47 (2015)
Just an ordinary movie, nothing else!
With a high hope I've started to watch the movie. As this movie is adapted from the game, so all the viewers may expect that there will be some reflection of the game. But this is very much annoying that they completely misjudged the concept of Hit-man. He is a silent assassin. Whatever his mission is, he always tried to avoid killing unnecessary peoples and also tried to save his bullets and money. But in the movie their is some unwanted violence, he kills whoever he wants. Also, in the game he tried to enter any area without seeing. But here, he was like dying to show his face. It was just like a normal action movie. Moreover, the story line is also very poor. "Rupert" was unable to walk like "Timothy" from the first movie. And the villain character is not much look like a villain at all.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
Another nail biting movie from Peter Jackson
Let's start with why i've given 8 out of 10 for this movie. First of all, after seeing Lord of the Rings i've wondered how the ring came to Bilbo baggins? I don't know about anyone who feels the same as me. The question is answered in this movie. From "Return of the king" we saw that how smeagol found the ring and became Gollum. In this movie we saw how Bilbo finds the Ring. That means it is a prequel of The Lord of the Rings.
The story line is pretty simple. Once upon a time in middle-earth there was a mountain where the Dwarf's lived known as the Lonely Mountain. They are very much well established with the help of gold. Once a dragon named Smaug swept away the Dwarvish kingdom and made them homeless. Smaug sleeps upon the vast treasure. The grandson of the king named Thorin wants to regain their pride and treasure. Gandalf the wizard wants to help and joins with them.
There are 13 dwarf's gathered in Bilbo's house who want's to fight against all odds to help Thorin to regain their homeland. They all then stared journey towards the wild to regain. But unfortunately Azog the orc and Goblins became their obstacle. They fought against them and came near to the Lonely mountain. On this odd journey Bilbo baggins found the Ring and Gollum.
On my point of view, nothing special was used on movie. The graphics is normal. But the orcs, goblins and gollum is more realistic then from the Lord of the Rings. Waiting for the HD print of the desolation of the smaug.
