Very uplifting and entertaining!

I just came back from an advanced screening of this film in Toronto and I really did not know what to expect. I had a free coupon for it and really had no idea what the film was about. Although being skeptical at first I must say that this is an amazing film. It's humorous, it's engaging, and in general a real feel-good movie, with solid performances by everyone including the child-actors. Even though the story may seem outrageous and unrealistic, the emotions evoked are completely genuine and make this film one of the greatest surprises for me this year. I definitely recommend this film for everyone as it demonstrates how dreams define who we are and should never die.

Amazing. captivating, thought provoking...to say the least

Simply put, this movie is fantastic. This film clearly demonstrates film as an art form rather than a moneymaker. David Cronenberg's directing is flawless, with each shot carefully setup and captured. The amount of attention that is payed towards cinematography allows each still shot in the film to be an amazing photograph. The psychological complexity can be examined on many levels depending on how much you think about it, but overall it is not impossible to understand, allowing most of the viewers to gain the reward of figuring it all out. It is one of those movies that you can constantly and consistently learn more about through different interpretations from other viewers. I wasn't expecting much going into this film owing to the low rating that it is given on this site but it definitely deserves to be on the same level as David Lynch's psychological films. One of the best movies that I have watched this year and definitely one of the few that really stimulated further thinking and examination on my part as a viewer. If you get the chance to see this film I definitely recommend it, especially to those who enjoy the psychological study of oneself.

Truly Unique!!

I recently purchased this movie off of the internet after viewing some Sergio Leone films that really got me into the western genre, specifically the spaghetti westerns. I must say that this is unlike any movie I have viewed from the time period. The story is captivating and kept my interest and the ending is one that I will never forget and an extremely important moment for the western genre. However, don't be expecting a Sergio Leone film. This is very different and Sergio Corbucci has his own distinctive style, such as sloppy close-ups and messy cinematography, along with many cuts. The landscape of the film is fresh and one of the main components of this work of art that makes the film so unique. Outside of Leone Corbucci is considered the best director of spaghetti westerns and it is clearly demonstrated here, which I actually hold in higher regard than Leone's first installment of the dollars trilogy "A Fistfull of Dollars". Definitely worth a look if you are a spaghetti western fan as this movie is one of the most important milestones in the genre and in film overall.
