Hellraiser (2022)
Anyone rating this under a 5 is a troll
I dare anyone to go watch a Hellraiser sequel and dare to tell me they're better than this remake. The Hellraiser franchise hasn't had a big budget or an original script since maybe the third installment. The scripts were all made to be another movie idea that the production company just tossed Pinheads crew into for the sake of retaining the Hellraiser movie rights. Sure this movie isn't perfect, but It's a huge breath of fresh air for the franchise. The Lament configuration has a great deal more of its lore explained in this movie. You get to see how and why it torments it users. The ending is ambiguous in a good way, it totally pulls on the strings of cenobite creationism.
So don't listen to these jabronis rating this movie 1-5 stars. I'm giving it an 8 based on my sheer admiration of a decent sequel with some real production value, soundtrack, acting, it's expansion of the source material.
Let the Right One In (2022)
Amazing!!!
I am a huge fan of the novel and the original movie. I was entirely ecstatic when the American remake "Let me In" was released but unfortunately, it missed the mark in my opinion. Now, this series takes an entirely different direction than the source material but it captures the soul and spirit in the right way. I'm more than thrilled to see this show continue. The acting is solid, the pacing is solid. Very worth the time spent watching. I was skeptical at first but after the first episode I was immediately hooked and couldn't watch the following episodes fast enough. I'll most certainly be watching this over and over again.
Katt Williams: World War III (2022)
What happened??
I was literally just saying last week how I missed Katt, I was reminiscing about how funny and revolutionary his comedy was. I turned on Netflix today and to my very pleasant surprise, this special popped up. No questions asked, pressed play immediately.
Oh god i regret it. I need to bleach my memory. What happened to Katt??
Maybe he wasn't that funny to begin with and it was all about the time and place of his original comedy. I don't know.
Encanto (2021)
This is not a good movie
The songs are terrible. The story is dumb. The animation looks great and that's about it. This is honestly one of the worst Disney movies I've seen. I'm not sure where it went wrong, but from the start I was immediately ready to turn it off. I loved Coco, Moana, Etc etc. But this.... Smh, very disappointed.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
There's definitely a glitch in the matrix
No spoilers here. But wow... just wow. How can a movie with a $175million (roughly) budget be such a flop? Shot in 6k 60fps and it feels sooooo disconnected, so fake, it gives me the chills. I was physically uncomfortable the two times I watched it. The first time I even fell asleep. This is a terrible movie. The OG matrix, 22years old, is a masterpiece and looks/feels a million times better than this. I'm sad I watched it. I need to watch the originals to wash my brain.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Anyone giving this a bad review.. just doesn't get it
Everyone cried over the great length of the watchmen ultimate cut.., but that movie is a masterpiece. Until now, that was my favorite Snyder movie. I absolutely hated the theatrical release of JL. Joss Whedon ruined it. It was a horror movie...
This cut literally took me home. I loved all 4 hours of it. The same way I love the extended 4 hour cut of The hateful 8. Sure, 4 hours is something that takes a small amount of dedication to finish. But this is a work of art. It a more than just a super hero movie. Every shot is damn near a painting.
I feel like In today's day and age, limited series and extended cuts are what everyone needs and wants whether they know it or not. Sure, a regular length movie is still great from time to time. But when you have this many moving parts in a story, with so much sourced material to pull from, it's tragic shame to undermine the potential. Snyder has proven that. He aced this one. The studios need to take note and bear witness to new standard zack has just set and start letting the directors do what they were hired to do.
Us (2019)
A huge mess, trying too hard
I love Jordan Peele, but this movie was terrible. The acting was good and probably the only saving grace. But aside from that, this was just a cluster of nonsense. There were parts alluding to a deeper "read between the lines" subtext which fell flat on its face. If this movie is serving as a commentary on an issue(s) it's too abstract and random to get the point across.
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
This was hilarious
The chemistry between Will and Rachel is amazing. The jokes were hilarious. There's a part in this moving that made me pause and almost die from laughing so hard, my wife had to video record me because I rarely laugh so hard. The soundtrack was so corny and yet amazing at the same time. They do great justice for Iceland as well. Real Icelandic bands are used for the soundtrack. It was a joy from the very moment it started.
Solar Opposites (2020)
Better than season 4 R&M
This show is much more digestible and easy for a wider audience, but that doesn't mean it's any less of a show. R&M is groundbreaking and out of this universe. This show is grounded and straight forward in comparison to the methods of R&M. I have so far been pretty disappointed with season 4 of R&M, I suspected some sort of fallout between The creators. My suspicions were right. Season 4 seems to be trying too hard and it's just not as funny or thought provoking. Maybe I'll be proven wrong when the rest of the season Airs. For now, Solar Opposites shall do and I am not complaining.
Some Good News (2020)
Nominate John for a nobel prize right now
This show is pure joy. From the first episode in, you could just tell that there is something very special about this show. This show being released during the Covid19 pandemic perfect timing it is precisely what the world needs right now. Its pure hearted intentions of showing how amazing people still are, and how much good is still out in the world despite the tragedies, is worthy of so much praise. From the comfort of your seat, pure joy. I've never smiled so hard while holding back tears for several minutes on end ever in my life.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
Godzilla is awesome but the people suck...
Millie is terrible in this movie, she looks out of place and is out of place, the only purpose she serves is to state the name of the monsters. Wow.... ok , smh..she's a great actress but this role and movie was not for her. Everyone else too, blahhhhh
Nacho Libre (2006)
Wholesome heart filled movie
This movie is a charming, silly and heartfelt story about a friar who feels out of place, with a calling for a passion of wrestling to raise money for his orphanage monastery in Mexico during the 1970s. Jack Black's facial expressions alone throughout this movie are priceless. The jokes are subtle and yet hilarious, perfect for the whole family.
The Boys (2019)
The corrupt corporate justice league A++++
This show is absolutely a breath of fresh air. The acting is solid, the FX are excellent. It combines a plethora of emotions that radiate from these characters. I'm rooting for all sides it seems, and that's rare. A show like this is what I've been waiting for. It touches base on political scandal, corporate greed, revenge, religion, sexual misconduct, murder, terrorism, and love. I recommend this to all my friends who don't like super hero movies or shows, most of them have come back and been amazed. The show deserves a 10/10
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
More than Satisfied
OK, so yeah this movie isn't perfect.. it has its moments. That being said, my inner child is more than satisfied. The fight sequencing was jaw dropping. The opening scene was amazing and sets the tone all too well. Great photography. The bat cave was sick! The more merciless depiction of batman is one of the best things to happen to batman on the big screen, ever. Wonder Woman was beautiful and powerful! Well done!! I really loved the dream sequence Bruce has while downloading the Lexcorp files, totally picked up on some Flashpoint Paradox influence (maybe a teaser for the sequels to come) Lex was introduced premature to his full fledged villain character, it was nice to see him become the villain and ultimately unleash Doomsday. Doomsday was sick! His explosion blasts reminded me of Dragonball Z, that was my favorite as a child, so I was more than pleased to see his raging power!! Lois Lane, eh... she had a bathtub scene.. that was the most she contributed to the movie without making things worse for superman.
